I've never actually ordered a cake online before now. But this rainbow cake stayed on my mind for days after I saw it! To be honest, I was always too nervous that something would go wrong (like the cake would be stale, or smashed or it just wouldn't live up to the photo) and I'd regret ordering. So I read through the reviews, looked at all of the review photos, and decided to take a chance. Well, I'm incredibly glad I did!
David's Cookies makes a gorgeous cake! The vibrantly beautiful colors of this cake, and its overall appearance were a 100% match with the Amazon photo. I was so happy about that!
The shipping time (2 days) and the way the cake was very carefully packed, ensured that the cake was in perfect condition when I received it.
Now for the taste: this cake was fantastic!
You never know exactly what a cake will taste like, other than the fact that it's a vanilla cake. So you can't know if the flavors will suit your particular taste, but for me, this cake was really really good. It's got a lot of frosting, and I was somewhat worried it might taste a little too sweet, and overpower the flavor of the cake. That was not the case at all, it was perfect! The frosting was sweet, but it was a more subtle sweetness when compared with store bought buttercream frosting. The cake was able to hold its own, and was complemented by the frosting.
The texture of the cake was wonderful too. It was dense enough not to fall apart, but was nice and moist at the same time. It tasted just as fresh as any bakery cake I've ever ordered.
I just appreciated everything about this order; from the ordering and shipping process, all the way to the enjoyment of seeing the cake and eating it.
