Directions

Bring fresh, filtered water to a boil. Add 2 grams of tea to an infuser, or straight into an 8-oz. mug. Pour the heated water into the mug. Steep for 5-7 minutes. Strain tea leaves, or take out the infuser. Sip and enjoy Davidson’s organic tea.

This Tea Can Help You Read People's Thoughts

First things first. Drinking this tea will not help you read people's thoughts. I just got tired of looking at reviews with titles about how good the tea tastes. So as long as you're already here, might as well finish reading this review (I'll be brief, trust me).

This is a huge bag of South African Rooibos tea at a price that I've NEVER seen it at before. A tin of 36 tea bags (Republic of Tea brand) from Whole Foods would set me back around thirteen bucks. That's two ounces of tea, total. Then I'd order the favorite brand in South Africa, which is Five Roses. 80 tea bags, six ounces, for eleven bucks. Not a bad price.

And then there's Davidson's.

One whole pound. Organic rooibos red in the most bland, boring packaging every. For only fifteen bucks. Nothing fancy, nothing flashy. Just 16 ounces of loose rooibos tea leaves. Do the math. You're not going to find rooibos at a better price per ounce, period. It's a good thing we're not talking grams, because I'm starting to sound like someone's plug. And I don't want anyone trying to smoke this.

It's DELICIOUS.

I make it using one of our Teabloom brand loose leaf stovetop pitchers with a stainless steel infuser. It tastes just as good, if not better, than any other rooibos I've had in the past. I even shared some with family that had never tried rooibos before. Honestly, I thought they wouldn't like it. We're talking dyed-in-the-wool Southerners that only drink sweet tea, the kind with enough sugar to put you into a diabetic coma. I figured they would think it tasted, I don't know... Weird? But they loved it. I had a hard time believing it, but they actually liked it.

I said I would be brief. My bad.

Bottom line is this. It tastes awesome. It's super affordable. And I know it's got all sorts of health and nutritional benefits and blah blah blah I don't care, I just love the way this stuff tastes. Will you love the way this particular tea tastes? I have no idea. In fact, why do we even pay attention to other people saying whether they like the taste of something or not? I can't get two people in our house to agree on the same type of pizza to order. Point is, the only way to find out if you'll like it, is by adding it to your shopping cart, and checking out. So when you're done reading my not-so-brief-but-I-honestly-thought-it-would-be-brief review, place your order for it. Buy it today, you'll get it in a couple of days. Seriously, stop reading and order it now.

This is a great tea. I love the color, smell, flavor. My biggest issue is that it is cut way too fine and will leak into your mug if using a strainer. It will go through even the tiniest holes on the strainer. Otherwise, excellent product. Will buy again. Hope they produce one that is cut a bit longer or coarser.

Red tea has some little known benefits that I have used it for and continue to use it for. That is: pet allergies! I am mildly allergic to cats, causing shortness of breath and itchy skin. Although I'm stuck with being itchy, organic (and only quality organic like this one) has the medicinal affect of eliminating my shortness of breath completely! So as long as I make myself this delicious tea, I can cuddle up to my furry friends for extended periods of time no problem!
I found this out accidentally, I noticed the improvement after a few times drinking just one cup of this tea wile with cats that I lived with at the time. It was an exciting discovery. I love cats but have never been able to be around them until i was an adult, and now, thanks to this tea, for the first time in my life I can be with cats without any breathing issues. Issues, that, when I was a small child landed me in the hospital several times for just being in someones house that had cats. Now I'm liberated and recommend rooibos to every allergy sufferer or simply anyone who has shortness of breath for whatever reason and wants to be better for the moments time.

ROUIBOS: This is a fantastic rooibos tea. The flavour is very strong and complex. I steep it for 7 minutes at least.

I love rooibos because it's naturally caffeine-free, so it's perfect for sipping at night (decaffeinating anything just ruins the flavour). I don't care for herbal teas, I want my tea to taste like tea, and this definitely does.

Someone has mentioned that the leaves are very fine and can slip through some strainers. That's the nature of rooibos and not a problem with this individual brand. If you use a good quality strainer, you won't have that problem. I prefer the one from Lee Valley.

Unlike some herbal teas, this one takes milk (or soy milk) very well without any curdling or anything.

GREEN TEA GARDEN:

I love this tea. Its flavour is delicate and herbal, but still has that green tea taste and benefits. I've been looking for a green tea that isn't bitter, and I think I've found it. I don't usually have the patience to let my water cool to 180 (and I use a whistling kettle so I never catch it in time). So this tea brews nicely at boiling temperature for 2 minutes without bitterness.

I grew up with Rooibos tea. There is always a pot of this tea in our house - and we drink it all day. It is caffeine free and a powerful natural anti-oxidant. We drink it “au natural” but some folks drink it with a little milk and honey. We also add it to just about everything. It is the liquid in our daily smoothies. You can add it to sauces, stews, risotto, salad dressings - we even give it to our plants. Just about everywhere you use water you can use and/or add Rooibos tea. Davidson’s tea is a good quality and great value. Of course, it’s not as good as it is in Namibia (formerly South West Africa) where it originated and is still grown - but you can’t have everything!
