If you are at all interested in the weather (who isn't?) and you own or are considering a Davis Instruments Weather Station, this product is for you. With the included cable, it easily plugged into the back of my Vantage Pro2 weather station console and connected to my computer. The included software allows data logging including: current conditions, charts, graphs, plots and more so I am able to store, view, analyze, export and print weather data collected by my weather station. The instruction are thorough and set-up is easy. The on-screen "Walkthrough" steps you through the configuration process. On-line help is also available. Parameters for the charts, graphs and plots are easily set, simple to understand, and viewing them is quite interesting and fun. I've had the WeatherLink for 2-years and it has performed flawlessly. All in all, this product and software is well-designed, easy to install, and a "must have" for Davis Weather Station owners.

While needed to connect your weather station to your computer/internet I think this should be included in the "expensive" Davis line of weather stations.

I purchased this when I purchased my weather station three years ago... All of a sudden, it stopped working. I thought, well, all things fail... so I eliminated all obvious reason, like loose connection, system needing a reboot.... I even ordered new one, thinking this unit was bad....

After installing the new one ,and the same "dead" results, I started checking other things. As instructed, you should us the "USB" as the connection method. With all Windows, this was exactly correct. Well, with the latest Windows Update, November 13, all of a sudden my weather station stopped reporting to my computer and to Weather Underground.

I knew that I could not have two bad units all of a sudden!!!! So, I started testing all of the options for data connections and finally found that Windows 10 had changed my data from a USB to a com port... 5 to be exact on my system!!!

So, before you do as I did and buy something you didn't need, try a different communication method.

I hope this saves at least someone some money.

I've spent a lot of money on this Vantage Pro 2 station, console, and Weather Link device. And its performance is really disappointing. Has very good, reliable wireless connectivity between the station and the console. But the Weather Link USB device and software is archaic, and is very restrictive. To do any of my own analysis an plotting - which would require exporting the tabular data to Excel, or at least as text - is not an option. The software can only print the data, which gets printed as a picture. Printing to Microsoft OneNote are individual pages that are images of the data. Incredibly useless. There appears to be yet again a subscription that can be purchased from Davis to retrieve MY data from THEIR server and I am drawing the line there. I am done shelling out money for features that should be part of the product bundle. Like I said, great device, well made/constructed. But the software is vintage 1990's.
Davis could also do a whole lot more to upgrade the console to make it more user friendly - again, 1990's user interface.
And finally, who would integrate the inside temperature sensor internally within the console that causes it to heat up if the display lighting is on for a period of time? I've seen a lot of comments in reviews regarding this, and Davis has done nothing. Are there no Engineers in this company?
I'm going to see if there are any third-party products out there that can improve this console and if there is better software available.

Well, have to say it wasn’t cheap, but it really is an amazing piece of equipment. The information accrued is diverse. Broad spectrum of localised info that can be shared globally. Interesting to see and compare results from nearby weather stations. All in all a good investment!

There was no warning about problems getting this to work with Windows 7, but I've tried everything I could think of without success. The instructions advise to contact Davis tech support, which I did by phone and email,...they have not responded. I've started the return procedure, but if Davis tech service gets back to me with a fix real soon I'll revise this review. 18-05-17 Davis tech support got back to me with a quick easy fix...all is good and I'm a happy little nerd. Windows 7 requires a simple little deviation in the setup, but works just fine when you know what to do.
