About the Author
Kristine M Smith is a self-proclaimed "Dawn Quixote" who has sought all her life for peace - the peace to be found in knowing that everyone can make a positive, lasting difference. "It is everyone's destiny and obligation to leave something behind that shows what we were made of while we were earth-bound and ambulatory in the flesh." She adds: "You don't have to be Mother Teresa or Albert Schweitzer to matter. Thank God for Mother Teresa and for so many other spiritual giants; I treasure them with all my heart. But just treading more lightly in our daily walk and reflecting on our impact on others - human and animal - exercises our spiritual muscles in wonderful ways. God gave us dominion over animals not so we can inflict scars, but so we can shepherd them to safe havens." Foreword by DeForest Kelley. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

A Wonderful Celebration of the Animal Kingdom
To say that Kristine Smith is an animal advocate is an extreme understatement. She obviously eats, sleeps, breathes and lives to express her sincere dedication and admiration for both the wild and the domestic creatures with whom we share life on this planet. Kris has this uncanny way of touching just what we love most about animals, and in her book, 'Let No Day Dawn...,' is a wondrous celebration and expression of great insights into the way animals think and the way they touch our lives in so many ways. And who better to lead the celebration than the legendary DeForest Kelley, who, with his wife Carolyn, supported so many animal welfare causes. The poetry in this book sends chills down my spine; the stories makes me laugh (and cry); and the drawings by Emese Emoke Dian have me in awe of an artistic talent that truly captures the spirit of the animals she has chosen to illustrate.

Be prepared to laugh and to cry. The poetry will touch you deeply. It seems to draw you in and force you to really reflect on what is happening to these beautiful creatures. You will be moved, hopefully, to an awakening of the responsibility we all have to protect and care for the animals.
This is the ultimate in thoughtful, caring, and insightful gifts. And, believe me, along with the wonderful offerings by Kris, the cover page, photographs, and artwork within are awesome!! Be prepared to buy one to savor for yourself and some to share with others. It's well worth it!!

The late actor DeForest Kelley was an animal welfare advocate; he and wife Carolyn supported the North Shore Animal League (NSAL) for many years. A portion of the proceeds from this book will benefit NSAL, The ROAR Foundation (Shambala Preserve), and other recognized national and international animal welfare organizations in memory of DeForest, to help support the ongoing commitment of these organizations' to animal welfare and advocacy.
