About the Author
Julian Saheed's love of fantasy came from reading the works of Raymond E Feist and David Eddings as a youth. "I grew up in a household with a mother who loved science fiction and fantasy as well as a brother who role played and war gamed. So as you can imagine I grew up playing Dungeons and Dragons (Which I still play every Wednesday) and watching Star Trek (Which I still watch). So it was no surprise that I grew to love Fantasy literature so much." He completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, with Honours in Marketing, and now works in the Australian banking industry. He resides in Melbourne. Dawn of the Valiant is his first published novel and the first in an Epic Fantasy Trilogy that has been developed over many years. It is an idea sparked on a high school camping trip, and developed over many long nights into a vivid and fascinating world full of wonder and drama.

As fantasy books go, Dawn of the Valiant is a wonderful start to an epic adventure filled with all the things you could want. It takes a lot for me to give a book 5 stars, and Julian has done it here! Read the book, you won't be disappointed!
It kept me interested the whole way through and there was a good mix of drama, action and humour.
Well worth a read.
No book is perfect and the flaw of this novel is that later on a lot is going on. I had to pause to take a breath at one point. But everything comes together and I can see that it all has its part to play in the grander story. I highly recommend for anyone seeking a good adventure.
The world depicted is rich and well thought out. At times gritty and physical but threaded with a framework of high sorcery familiar to many fantasy settings. The Author does a great job of balancing the expectations of magic and the gods so that you truly understand how they play a role in the world and are awed when it's rules are broken.
One aspect that I really liked is that the two young protagonists are not simply born into heroism but have to earn it for themselves, you absolutely get the sense that that this is just the tip of the iceberg for a complex and details fantasy epic. I eagerly await the next instalment!
