The first half of the book is in Ollie’s POV and and is written in podcast format. Ollie does this as a way of telling his side of the story to Lucky. One of the things I liked about this book is that the authors don’t rehash all of the events from The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks. But they do have Ollie talk about specific events that were instrumental in how he eventually fell in love with Lucky. I also like that some of the most significant events for Ollie were events that didn’t seem to have a big impact on Lucky or that Lucky didn’t even know he had done. I appreciated the insight that the reader is given into Ollie’s thought processes and what it was about Lucky that was a game changer for him. I was really looking forward to reading this book because I expected to read Ollie’s POV and swoon even more for him. But in his endeavor to be totally honest with Lucky, he admits to doing some pretty assholish things that support Lucky’s original opinion of him as a jerk. Some of the things that he did were manipulative and, in some cases, kinda mean. I did appreciate his desire to be honest and transparent during the podcast, so that Lucky would know everything and that they could hopefully move on and build a strong relationship without any secrets between them. Ollie finishes his podcast around the halfway mark of the book and has started to redeem himself (re: his jerk status) with the grand gesture he makes at the end of his podcast. The authors continue the book in the present and tells the next part of Ollie and Lucky’s story in dual POVs. I experienced a lot of anxiety during the second part of the book because I didn’t know if Lucky was going to make it to Paris to meet Ollie. Even though I didn’t like some of the things that Ollie did, I was still rooting for them to have their HEA (which they do, but I won’t tell you how). I didn’t love this book as much as I did the first book. I think that’s mainly due to the additional insight I was given regarding Ollie’s jerkish behaviors because he wasn’t as great as I wanted him to be. The authors do give the reader a peak into Lucky and Ollie’s lives after the surf competition ends (btw, the reader doesn’t get to follow the MCs to the remaining locations of the surf competition), but I feel like it wasn’t enough. I would have LOVED to have read a few more chapters about how Lucky and Ollie’s relationship progressed. I will say the last bonus scene in Ollie’s POV totally redeemed him in my eyes and made me finally fall in love with him completely.

I’m so happy, my heart’s so full of love it could burst; The Jerk Duet’s complete and it ends in a huge and wonderful HEA! The Day the Jerk Started Falling is the second book of this amazing duet and it picks up where book number one ended. This book is so well written and fast paced; I reached the end and kept tapping my Kindle, convinced there was more to it, upset I’d finished it so soon. I kept going back and forth, giving myself whiplash, one moment I was #TeamLucky and the next #TeamOllie. What I am is #TeamLuckyAndOllie.
The story continues with the innovative Podcasts, but this time we get Ollie’s version of the story, and what a story it is! There were moments I was so upset “listening” to him (it really felt like I was) as he was telling us what he did to win over Lucky, almost from the moment he saw her, which was ultimately his endgame. He was cocky, a full of himself jerk, while doing some pretty underhanded and calculated moves to get her attention. Not everything was what it appeared and he did everything for love, something he never expected to feel so strongly. And I love him for it!
“You’re all the things I never knew I wanted in a woman and then some, and most important of all, you’re the woman I love.”
Ollie has decided he needs to tell his version of what happened to Lucky, if she’d only talk to him, to convince her to forgive him for his cruel words and explain why he lied. Because there’s a good reason for everything he did, and he’s sure she’d understand, if only he got a chance to tell her. So, he decides to do the Podcasts, ten hours’ worth of them, hoping she’ll listen to him that way. Ollie’s so desperate; he’s convinced she has to.
“Today, I choose you. Tomorrow, I choose you. And for every day after that, I choose you.”
I really can’t go into too much of the story, no spoilers from me, but this is such a funny and beautiful story! Ollie redeems himself, and I forgave him after he spilled his guts out. I have to say I honestly was so upset by his deception, in the first book, that I really felt Lucky’s pain and anguish and I “maybe” hated him a little!
“You might go by Luck, but I think we both know, when it comes to love, you make me the lucky one."
And Lucky is indeed one lucky woman!

Oh Ollie, I knew there was more to you than what we got to see through Lucky’s eyes! I never fell for you being the biggest jerk in all the world. You’re my boy Ollie and you can call me Little Fire whenever you want! Or you know, just call me. #TeamOllie all the way.
The Day the Jerk Started Falling gave me everything I wanted in the conclusion to Lucky and Ollie’s love story. I loved getting Ollie’s side of things. Hearing how he fell for Lucky in his own words was just so perfect. He’s seriously the sweetest and the swooniest, and he’s kind of giving Thatch a run for his money as my favorite M&M hero. But for God’s sake don’t let Thatch know that, I don’t want anyone getting all up in their feelings!
While I did enjoy getting to see certain things that had happened through Ollie’s pov in his podcast, I almost wish his story jumped to present day a little sooner. I just wanted them to get together so badly! I loved when they finally reconnected, and all that transpired to get them to that point. And all that came after! It was all so cute and fun and swoony, and just made me feel all squishy inside!
I really got a kick out of the way these books were told in podcast format. It was something fresh and unique and now I kind of want to find some podcasts to follow!

This was such a captivating and fun duet to read. I am completely enamoured by Ollie's character, and love the snap bubble pop personality that is Lucky. Max Monroe - dare I say it, but this is my most favourite story of yours so far. So easy to read and un-put-downable. Can't wait to see what you serve up next!
