There are some areas that reveal the writer's age and lack of insight in regards to dating boundaries for believers. However, if you are a believer I encourage you to look past those parts and receive the core of the message. You, and your spouse (my husband has enjoyed me applying the exercise!) won't regret it.
Each day shares a topic on marriage and a challenge. The challenges range from easy to more difficult but each are aimed at getting one another talking and/or being more physically affectionate – both of which I love!
I particularly enjoyed the fact that it was so easy-to-read and put together very succinctly. While some topics and challenges might seem basic, I find that a focus on these small gestures of affection & gratitude toward our spouse get forgotten quite easily.
Overall, this little book is fun and helps point couples together and toward Christlikeness.
I received a free copy of the 30 Day Marriage Challenge: Accepting the Challenge to Make Marriage Better in 1 Month in order to write an honest and unbiased review.
Some of the challenges are pretty easy like making more time for kissing (which may lead to other things!). Some of them, I know are going to be more challenging for me. What I love about each challenge is that they’ll be easier or harder for me depending on the season we’re in with our marriage.
I know I will be able to refer back to the book (and I have a few times already!) to find another tool to use in my marriage tool kit.
Every marriage requires lots of love and even more hard work. If you have a near perfect marriage or if you and your spouse could really use some help rekindling your relationship this is a great read. The book is a quick and easy read that gets straight to the point. I know how important this is since living with an infant, reading time can be limited.
Each day Becky provides you with a marriage topic and a short "homework" assignment. There are some great ideas and tips to get you and your spouse talking, touching, and having fun. My favorite was the day the assignment is to brag about your spouse. Positivity really does inspire more positivity.
The 30 Day Marriage Challenge Book by Becky Moseley is a great read for any married couple, whether you have been married 2 days or 20 years. Redoing the challenges will ingrain these Christlike marriage principles into your life. I know that in the short time I have had the book, it has improved my marriage!
I love how deep the challenges get your marriage and how God-centered they are. Without God, a marriage simply won't be as good.
Becky gives you a daily task to complete. Each assignment is simple, yet often thought-provoking and never time consuming. Every day she shares a background story to the assignment, which makes it relatable to your own life. Becky is a great story teller and is not afraid of putting herself and her marriage out there for the rest of us to learn from their journey. At the end of the challenge, after 30 days of daily opportunities to improve your marriage she asks you to evaluate the process, which is as important as completing all the tasks.
This book is an invaluable resource for any couple (married or not) who wants to maintain and improve their bond. The exercise of focusing on your marriage DAILY for 30 days is incredibly healthy and one that I want to start doing periodically. With little kids, work, and just a busy everyday life it is easy to get "off track" and get in a routine of working together side by side.
