The PlotWatcher HD Game Surveillance System has revolutionized scouting camera technology and functionality. Unlike trail cameras that trigger on short-range motion, the PlotWatcher captures images of an area regardless of how far the subject is from the camera. So whether the animal is 30 feet or 330 feet away, you’ll see them on the video. This greater field of view allows you to see game and their travel patterns that would have otherwise gone undetected by traditional trail cameras. With this information, you can review your HD video to scout likely hunting locations before you go into the field. With this ability, you can pattern game and develop your strategy to know where and when you want to hunt. Get closer to your game and stop guessing where to hunt! Camera Features • Battery life lasts up to 35,000 video images (equals 7 days of 10 second interval time-lapse)* • GameFinder Software with MotionSearch software included • Review one full day in 3 minutes or less (5,000 frames of video) • 1280x720 HD video • Simple and easy-to-use thumb wheel control • Customizable recording time • Time-lapse settings for 5 or 10 second or customized intervals • 8 Gb USB drive recommended (not included) *4 AA batteries not included (Time based on 10 second interval setting)
Know exactly where to hunt without spending days manually scouting a location with the Day 6 PlotWatcher HD time-lapse game surveillance camera. The PlotWatcher records HD images of all the activity that happens in a select area in the days before you hunt. Once mounted at your stand location, the camera takes pictures every five to 10 seconds from dawn to dusk and condenses them into a 10-minute HD time-lapse video. As a result, you can review a full day of activity in just a few minutes, or even faster using the GameFinder video software.
The PlotWatcher takes pictures every 5 to 10 seconds from dawn to dusk.
The camera's GameFinder video player software makes it a breeze to review your daily video files. The software lets you review files in forward or reverse at your choice of replay speed, or even scroll frame by frame for a more detailed review. You can also speed up the review process by using the MotionSearch feature, which skips to the next frame in which motion is observed. With GameFinder, you can easily build and share your own library of HD video clips and pictures.
The PlotWatcher is easy to set up thanks to the simple one-button design. Simply select the time-lapse interval on the selector wheel, insert a USB drive, turn on the TLV unit, and scout. Other details include the ability to record up to seven consecutive days of time-lapse video; a video resolution of 1,280 x 720; a customizable recording time; and an SD card slot. The PlotWatcher--which requires four AA batteries (not included)--performs best when paired with an 8 GB USB drive.

I've gotten some great shots of both wildlife and service people coming to my house. That being said, this is also an excellent/cheap surveillance system. The battery life is so-so when used all day without the mid-day skip feature on, certainly a real plus for deer monitoring, counter productive for watching the house.
Had it not died prematurely, this would garner an easy 4 stars, maybe 5. Mine lasted only 18 months, and MOST of that time was spent on a shelf not being used at all (with batteries removed of course). It has a one year warranty so I'm SOL.
Pity, this really should have been a great review. 2 Stars because it works well - if it works.
This one took video 5 of 5 days in the field. The "Search" mode is a huge plus over the Primos version. Fast Forward to the action. Plotwatcher movies were ready to go right off the card. Bravo Plotwatcher
Over all these things are awesome and the only time one of them let me down was because of operator error.... The interface is simple and easy to set up, the software is actually the best I have seen in comparison to other similar cameras and the multiple fixed options for number of pics, time between pics and duration of mid-day rest options is excellent and only made better by the ability to customize your own settings.
I am impressed with the ability to zoom in while reviewing the footage, and have caught a massive range of tiny critters to nice sized black bears and deer. I use 4 rechargeable AA batteries in each camera and rotate the batteries every weekend. Depending on your settings you can extend the battery life to capture more than six days, but usually record as much as possible across a six day timespan. Would be super cool to be able to run 12v on this (and there is a guy who is aftermarket modifying these for that), but honestly this is the best thing on the market for my application.
One sad note is that I paid $89 for these in 2011, so the price has certainly jumped time...
***UPDATE 7/2015*** Still working like a charm. Uses lots of batteries but the pictures are good. I am buying a PRO because the batteries last much longer and the SD card is easier than the micro USB so I can scout two places while hunting. Last years Buck using Plotwatcher.
