Bought these stands because I wanted more stereo separation than what could be had with them on the TV stand, and because stands often help improve the sound quality of bookshelf speakers. The dimensions are perfect for my Teac LS-H265's, and they were relatively inexpensive compared to what you CAN spend on stands. They've honestly improved the bass of said speakers so much so that I find myself turning off the subwoofer to enjoy them by themselves.

Two helpful tips for anyone who has bought or is considering these. 1. The description claims that you can fill the larger post with sand or something to give it more weight; something I would recommend. Yeah, you can physically do that, but it has a large hole about two inches from the bottom that you'll have to find a way around that before filling, obviously. I wrapped gorilla tape around it and it's worked perfectly - hasn't leaked out any of the sand that I dumped in. 2. One of the side effects of being this cheap is a lack of precision in manufacturing. Case in point, there were some dents in the poles and more notably the top platform for the speakers were warped a bit. But since you should probably be using Blu Tack or something to affix them to the stands better, this might help with that issue. I just piled up extra Blu Tack where needed to help straighten the speakers out a bit.

Those two things aside, I have been very happy so far with these stands. Would recommend for a budget HiFi, no doubt.

I have had a pair of these Dayton SSMB24 24" Speaker Stand Pair Square Steel Base for over a year now, having bought them when they were put 'on sale' by Parts Express (who, at the time, offered them at such an amazing low price that, as soon as I saw the e-mail, I immediately ordered them).

They are heavy-weight and solid, belying their low price (I have seen the same stands, listed under various "brand names" being sold for much more by other companies).

The stands are supplied with spikes for use on carpets.

The speaker cord can be run down the rear tube so it is unobtrusive.

For use with the Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair, they are perfect as is. If you wish to use heavier or larger speakers with them, they can be filled with lead shot to make them more stable (though you must at least partially plug the bottom hole where the speaker wire runs out).

The construction quality is of first-class. Ease of assemble is exemplary. Everything lines up perfectly and the screws go in easily.

At their price, I am of the opinion that they cannot be beat and I recommend them highly. Frankly, even at Parts Express' "full" price, they are a bargain.

Note that if you buy them directly from Parts Express and your total order exceeds $99.00, the shipping is free.

Had been searching for a sturdy metal, sand fillable set of 24" stands/ Ordered several, sent them all back due to being not what would work. I needed to stand mount a pair of Chane A2rx-c center channel speakers being using as my L & R. They would be sitting on their ends, and weigh 27lbs each. These Dayton stands works very well with my speakers. However there were a few quirks. First of all, if a company advertises stands to be fillable, they should provide some plugs or caps to allow you to block the holes in the tubes for running wire thru them, otherwise they are not really able to be used that way. Every single stand that I looked at was the same way, blows my mind. I had to buy some 3/4" black plastic sheet metal hole plugs to plug the two holes in each 3" tube. They sort of worked, except where the powder coat/paint thickness on the edges of the holes was too thick & they would pop out each time. Finally had to glue them in. These are quite sturdy stands, and overall are of good quality, especially for the price. After I got them all assembled, I noticed that one of the top plates didn't sit level, causing the speaker to lean to one side. Had to stick some thicker adhesive backed pads on one side to get it back to being level. I guess you get what you pay for. Had a problem with one of the tubes not have a good paint finish, Parts Express customer support was EXCELLENT on getting this quickly remedied for me.

very heavy - very here I am without being obvious. They are in our living room and I've got things in front of them... very slim and they blend nicely without standing out like look at me I'm a big piece of metal!

The stands were easy to assemble and of very heavy, high quality materials. Unfortunately on my thick carpet they are less stable than I would have liked. I have Klipsch bookshelf speakers mounted on them and they easily tip over if pressed. As I have small children and I have had to affix the stands to the wall with a tether. All in all solid construction but not recommended for thick carpet.

You get what you pay for. Not audiophile grade stands, but they get the job done. I would recommend filling them with some type of ballast as they are pretty top heavy with speakers on them. The spikes are pretty lame and on some the screw threading ends before they are flush with the base plate - causing more wobble.

If you do not fill them, the hollow tubes may resonate from the transfer vibration from the woofer.

I gave these stands two stars because they are better than my speakers sitting on the floor. I will probably try to sell them and get a pair of Sound Anchor Stands in the future.
