Graphics (4/10) - Graphically, this game holds up to the arcade original as well as Super Thunder Blade on the Genesis. One of the most annoying changes is that the amount of pop-up is ridiculous. My second and only other annoyance is that the game only runs at about 20-24 frames per second.
Gameplay / Control (8/10): The controls for regular turning work perfectly fine. However, I cannot seem to get ahold of the drifting mechanic in this game. It just hasn't been able to click with me yet. Still, the control is quite good and the game plays very well because of that.
Sound / Music (11/10): The music by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi is simply brilliant. Never in my life have I ever heard a soundtrack more full of soul, passion, and excitement in my entire life. The singing is amazing, the instruments used sound excellent, and the overall composition is some of the best I've ever heard in a video game.
Overall (9/10): While it's a far cry from the arcade graphically, this port of Daytona USA more than makes up for it with it's excellent gameplay and the sheer geniusness of it's music. It even has the added bonus of Redbook Audio. What does this mean? Well, it means you can stick the game disc in a CD player and listen to the music straight from the game! How awesome is that?
