I must admit right off the bat, I haven't read any of Amber's books prior to DAZZLE. Now, I know I'm going to have to give her other series a definite read, and hold my breath for the second in this series to show up.

DAZZLE stared off with one heck of a bang. When you first read DAZZLE, you're essentially tossed headfirst into the middle of Delaney and Micah, the two main characters of this book, saving a girl from a rather untimely death. But what looks like a simple save-the-damsel plan bursts into smoke when it's revealed the damsel, Ariel, is just like Delaney and Micah; she's one of the gifted.

Two factions divide this book; those who follow Zerach, and those who are Sarafites. Zerach and his followers are essentially the Gryffindors in this series; good-hearted, brave, and strong. To compliment them in the worst way, the Sarafites are the Slytherins of the series; dark, twisted, and looking for power and domination. Delaney, Micah, and Ariel are all members of Zerach's army, where as a few secondary characters make up the current fold of the Sarafites. Amber crafted a nice tug-and-pull with this half sub-plot, half main-plot, weaving it in and out of the whole story.

Through-out the series, we get to see multiple points of view from both Micah, Delaney, and Sam, the boy who acts as both Delaney's weakness and strength. Delaney is a conflicted, headstrong kind of girl. Gifted with the ability to see visions of the future in sporadic bursts, she keeps almost everyone at arm's length, unable to tell anyone of her gift, but aching to be free of her confined space. That's where Sam, the troubled, dark teenager steps in.

I bought this book.
Dazzle by Amber Garza
I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed. This is the first book I have ever read by this author. The books have components of romance, betrayal, trust, religious undertones, a bit of thrills in their, and mystery. I'm left feeling what the heck will happen now, especially after the cliffhanger at the ending. This is one of the best YA Christian reads that I have read. This is going into my favorites section on my kindle shelf. I just love the characters and how they grow and develop through the novel. The writing is great and story flowed real well. It is a easy read that I had a hard time putting down. I have to say I love Delaney and Sam. They are my favorite characters! I love how the book shows you multiple view points while reading and you understand what the character is thinking and feeling.

Delaney and Micah have been friends since birth and they are special. They are Eklodge Warriors for Zerach. They were made to save their people from the Sarafites. Delaney and Micah are in high school dealing with normal high school things, while guarding their secret from the world. If it fell into the wrong hands, it would spell disaster to the warriors. Delaney only wants to be normal and is immediately drawn to Sam. Sam has secrets of his own, will they prove deadly? I give this book an outstanding 5 star review!!! <3 it and can't wait for the next in the series.

I enjoyed this three book series. Before you choose the series, just know that it's a "YYYA" book (Young, Young, Young Adult) story, perfect for grade school kids. There is just the right amount of evil vs good, taking place in a parallel word called Edenly, which is the basic all American suburb, ruled by a beneficient being named Zerach. There are certain town teenagers who possess supernatural powers, meant to save others from evil forces. Ironically the evil gang are called Serafites, which strangely resembles the word seraph (angel). They're like the generic violent guys who like to start fights in pool halls.

This fairy tale world was only explained halfway through the trilogy, which was poor planning on the author's part. The introduction, with a young couple asking the all powerful Zerach for a child (one with a "price") fizzles out as a plot factor, which is also awkward writing. But on the whole, the maturation of these teenagers plays out intelligently, except for a couple of "latecomer" heroes, who are pretty weak characters. There are no details about the "all powerful" Zerach, who - for all we know - could be the Wizard of Oz, hiding behind a curtain.

In general, the strength of the 3-part story alies in the characters, who are quite likable, and have serious choices to make about their responsibilities, especially when their priorities are between personal lives and superhero lives. It's a little "Potterish" in a nice way. Most importantly, the kids' powers are very "comic book cool", and their different personalities and wise cracking lends a helping hand to balance out the hardships and bad guys they must endure. That's why I'd recommend the book, because of its essential charm, attractive teens with different types of super-powers, and the satisfying "mature fairy tale" which will please adolescent and teenage readers.

The more I love a book, the more I hate a cliffhanger ending; especially when I don't have the money to buy the next book, yet. Lol! Anyway, the book 2 is on the top of my To Be Bought list.
I used to not like YA much but I've been reading a lot of YAs recently, with this being the most recent (and a pretty good book, too) that I can say I like them fine now.
The blurb pretty much sums up the gist of the story. Adding some more would be spoiling so I'm not gonna elaborate anymore. So to describe the book, Dazzle is engaging, fun, and WILL MAKE YOU SCREAM FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!! So if you can't have the next book yet, DON"T READ THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE IT!!! Seriously.
For me, Dazzle is between exasperating and entertaining - but not in a bad way. I often shifted between how I like the characters at one time and how they irritate me at another time. Made the book more enjoyable. But I can honestly say that the book got my attention throughout and when I reached the ending I can't believe it ended just like that that I checked my Kindle if I got the next book (I was hoping). No, I don't have it and now I can't think of anything else but what happens in the next book. I. Hate. This. Feeling. I need the next book fast. Argh!
