Echo is awesome and finally learning to come into her powers but she still has so much she’s able to do and hasn’t gotten to yet. Cassidy’s character development is always fantastic and great to read.
Every time we see a CoM or CoA character I squealed like a little girl 😍
Book 2 picks up where book 1 ends and boy is it a kick butt read! I could not put it down! I highly recommend this read!
I wasn't able to put this book down and now I am impatiently waiting for the third book. I honestly can't wait to see what Debbie Cassidy comes up with. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
In Dead City we have Echo still training. She is learning about her powers, making her body and mind physically as best as she can. She will be the only Guardian for nine months. She has to be focused and strong. All the while trying to deal with her grief about what happened to the other potentials. Lets not get into her relationships. Some progress like we want them to, some don't, and we have a surprise addition. I must say that I am very excited to see what happens in book three Dead Sea with her relationships and with whom.
Once I started this book I could not put it down. Debbie has a way of creating this world and characters that just grab ahold of you and does not let go. She always writes these characters that have layers as she slowly peels them back. Well done, Ms. Cassidy and I cannot wait for Dead Sea!! Like really, I need it now!!! lol
This book picks up after the first and it is almost non stop with so much happening including finding out answers about the crystal. I can't wait until book three!
I do have to warn those who like me have read the midnight and arcana series and was excited to see familiar faces in book one well prepare yourself that some of that excitement will probably dim. I know mine did I was like nooooo! I wish I could go back to not knowing as it ruins it for me. I like to re-read books that I love and I really loved the arcana series so I purchased a copy and knowing that they did not live HEA together kills me. Worse was not just one but two and then the other couple one is separated. Real life is hard enough and I'm okay with trials but I need a HEA in my fiction since we so rarely get them in real life. Even with that let down it was a good read and I'm going to choose to ignore it. I think I'll be an ostrich right now...kidding...okay I was serious.
If you’ve read Ms. Cassidy’s other series you’ll enjoy her blending of the worlds and connect with the characters in the other books! Yeah! Missed them. Ms. Cassidy is slowly bringing us towards Echo loving more than one man. No surprise there, we kind of picked up on that in book one. Ms. Cassidy seems to have a knack of writing about the reverse harem. I enjoy the vision that she brings to her books. Its a breath of fresh air that someone can love more than one person.
DEAD City was just as character driven as DEADWORLD and it was neat getting some more time with characters from other series in the same world. Some I like more than others, but it's still neat getting to know their future selves. One of the issues I had with DEADWORLD was that there wasn't a lot of focus on Echo's siblings. DEAD CITY definitely does a better job at addressing what is happening with them.
The harem has definitely been started in DEAD CITY. There is a bit more romance involved in DEAD CITY as well as a little more time involved with building the relationships between the harem members. Still a long way to go, but it's moving along.
I look forward to seeing what Debbie has planned for Echo, her men and the world.
