I was waiting for the next Jim Butcher novel after finishing a Simon Green book when I came across this. It moves along at the pace of a Harry Dresden story and has the twists and turns of both Butcher and Green. The flow is not as polished as either Butcher and Green, but that should come from experience or better editing. It still received a "Great" review for the overall content and effort. I look forward to more from this author and , I hope, some of more in this rather interesting and well-thought-out character.

Dead Lucky is a story of how our dying necromancer gets the supernatural dice to begin with and how he learns how they work. Great short story with all the great characters and adventure of the books crammed into a small package.

This is the first M. R. Forbes book I've read that I wasn't unequivocally in love with. Maybe I just don't understand this world yet, but the MC is more of an anti-hero than his other MCs and I can't quite tell if I like him yet. Will definitely read the next in series just to see if things improve and start to make more sense.
