Nothing is quite as it seems in the mountains of Tennessee, and Darby, her ghostly friends, and partner are in for one heck of a ride.
Darby takes a not-so-welcome crash course into what-the-heck territory to learn who she really is, and she's not at all happy about it at first. The ending will shock you and turn you on your ear! I was not expecting that. At. All.
Get ready for some baddies who think their pooh don't stink, high society jerks who need an attitude adjustment, and a kick-butt heroine who'll grab your heart and kick you in the junk if need be.
Darby. Freaking. Rocks.
I highly recommend this amazing five-star book! I can't wait for the next!
This story grabbed my attention right from the start with Darby’s humor and wit. I was immediately invested and the more I read, the more drawn in I became. Darby’s supernatural abilities and the circumstances surrounding the murder were so intriguing. The deeper we go, the more we uncover. Add in the fascinating Bishop LaRue and I was a goner. Anderson creates an exciting read with a great mix of humor and mystery. Her characters are complex and bold and I know that we’ve only just scratched the surface. I can’t wait dive even deeper into who they are. Dead to Me was a fantastic first installment in this new series! I can’t wait to see where Anderson goes with it!
Really though, I loved this book. All the characters brought their A game and came together fabulously.
If you are looking for a good book that’s wicked entertaining and funny get this one!
This book was super captivating. Darby, our heroine, is sarcastic, brave, smart, and can talk to ghosts. She’s a kicka** woman that makes this whole story super enjoyable. With her unlikely group of allies they must come together to stop whatever is going on in the small city of Haunted Peaks. With witches, psychic, death mages, and so many more creatures, how can you not get sucked into this amazing and scary new world. This new world is full of secrets, and lies leaving you unsure of what you know and what you think is true.
Auctioned packed from the very beginning and only getting more so throughout the story. Will they be able to figure out what’s going on and who is causing it? Will she finally get the answers she’s been looking for? This is a definite MUST read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!!
main character fits the bad assed female cop trope to a tee. , but is an emotional wreck. homicide pro, but gets physically ill at the thought of a dis liked school chum getting stabbed to death..
exschool victim points out that the fact she talks with ghost is a known issue since 14, but best friend never catches on.
back up is gay.. repeated in description multiple times.
small town set up, ie dad da, uncle chief of police but 5 station police force with dedicated homicide detectives?.
I suggest you skip, better books out there.
Dead folks, touchy feely ghosts and one hot looking Fed (but not really a Fed) is what Darby does get.
Bishop La Roux. This dude is cocky but kinda worth keeping around. Especially with that cool thing he does towards the end.
The bad guy/girl was just down right creepy from page one. And that plot twist at the end...DAMN!!!!! I'm really looking forward to the next book, but that's always the case with Annie. She's one of the very few Authors that I can handle cliffhangers from.
Just a SMALL bit of my favorite bits....
"Way to slap some lipstick on that pig."
"Hate to break it ya, Bubba, but murder trumps embezzlement any day of the week and twice on Sunday."

Yet again Annie Anderson has created a strong independent lead who has emotions, someone that you can relate to on some level. You love and hate her supporting characters for how they treat her and you pray for her life to get easier. Fantastic! I am counting down the days till book 2 is released. I know it will be worth the wait.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
