    In the first 20 years, I mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years I have enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, I've been blessed with creating The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling, and fan loved, collection of stories.

    The fans have propelled these stories beyond my wildest imagination and they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street. They are fantastic!

    Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore in the U.S. but have had a weird wanderlust to live in different parts of America ever since.     I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.

    There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.

Love learning more about Shay, Peyton, and Lily. Her exciting jobs, which never turn out to be easy, are fun to read about. Her evolving understanding of her own self is great. I never questioned it when reading the Brownstone series. Peyton's love life and pizza making are great insights into his life. Lily is turning out to be even more complicated than I thought. Her research into Brownstone's origins is interesting. I'm loving each book in this series more. Go Martha!

This story progresses the series, but it was rambling in a lot of ways. A lot of this book is telling not showing as well. I was really disappointed with the introduction of the relationship between her and James well. It was an after thought or a footnote when it represented a huge change in their relationship. I have been looking forward to it for four books, and they're more like coworkers than anything else. There was no lead up to them actually being in a relationship. I still recommend! It has a lot of interesting trips and she obtains new foes. We get a lot of Peytons POV in this book, but still mostly in Shays . There is a government contractor she is competing with to try and find alien objects. They keep going back and forth. Peyton's brother has amped up his search to try to find him and see if he's still alive.

Telling not showing is a pet peeve of mine. Wasn't an issue in past books. When she goes to Australia, It shows her in a fight with 1 creature, But most of the battles and creatures were an off handed comment that we're told it happened. When they handled James's issue with the japanese Gang, It must have been a major undertaking, but we were told in and off hand comment as a footnote that they flew to Japan and killed everyone. There are several instances like this that made it less enjoyable and I felt like I missed chunks and information. Maybe I need to read the other series for Brownstone? The authors are really good at curating relationships between her and everyone except for the man she's in an actual relationship with. It's a little frustrating. That's why I rated it a four instead of a five star.

As per usual I'll leave it to other reviewers to make comments on the story or to 'critics' to discect the writing style or storyline.
Me, I'm a bit simpler (or maybe a lot if you ask my partner), I just enjoy a book that takes me somewhere else for a while. A good book IMO causes me to read it from cover to cover without wanting to take a break if at all possible.
This book, like all the other Shay, Brownstone & Alison books so far was just that, a 'read me from cover to cover' book. Thusly, another 5 star book from this author.
