I found her take on the way the supernaturals were outted to be new and delightful. A gene-splicing gone wrong. What intellegent, thinking person has not had that possibility cross their mind at some time. But I found it to be interesting how she chose to kill off the elves and leave the witches, vampires and pixies to survive, not to mention the demons and what might possibly turn out to be the Master of the Wild Hunt himself. I'm not sure just what he may be, God or Demi-God?
Her heroine and her sidekicks; vampire, pixie and human; are all loveable and believable if you read this kind of fiction often. If not they are at least interesting. Her writing style is good and humorous while believable within the storyline.
I would definitely recommend this to any adult who enjoys this type of reading or just wants a light reading experience. It might give young kids nightmares, so parents beware. Just suspend your practical mind for a short time if you are not a regular reader of paranormal or supernatural fiction. You may find a whole new reading experience you will find full of great entertaining books, series and authors. Try it you might like it.
Ugh, I wish I had brought all of these books home with me so I can keep reading! I forgot how much I love Rachel Morgan! I love this book and the series so much! The only thing that drives me crazy is Rachel's freak outs about Ivy. I guess it's understandable considering the circumstances, but to me it really just seems ridiculous! Wish all the ebooks were free, or $1.99 and I'd buy the others.. but alas… Definitely recommend to anyone who likes supernatural stuff!
Since this is the first in a series my guess is the author needed to set the background. That seemed to take half of the book! It really didn't start to get interesting until my kindle said it was at 58%.
When all was said and done, the book was ok and ended with enough intrigue to make me want to read the next in the series. Hopefully it'll be interesting for the entire book and not just the last half.
