There are several instances in the book that make a reference to things or times that Bryn has gained experience with, but they are never explained.. it is almost as if the author is trying to say that during the time period the books are taking place there were gaps where Bryn gained this knowledge or experience, yet there are no lapses of time where this experience could have been gained. The books are right after the other with no time loss in between.
The author hooked me in the first two books, but the writing has gotten forced almost in the last two I read... the entire saga with Aiden really has me upset As it was never really gone into.. one day they are in love with this crazy electric chemistry, then disrepute never felt that strongly about one another and now the crazy chemistry is with Joshua... what is that??
Not to mention Aiden's death... it was just brushed over like no big deal.. it was really frustrating.. you get attached to a character after a couple of books and then bam he's just o it of the story mostly. Then he is killed off without a second thought and no emotion.. not even any tears are shed. Just not able to fathom that... I will be reading the last book in the series, but only because I have already come this far and I would like to see what happens..
Word of advice for the author though.. next time you make a main character, keep him a main character or at least give that character the respect he deserves! Remember that people get attached to characters in your books...
Other than this, the overall series is good.
Dead Wrath did a great job at tying up most of those loose ends from Dead Chaos. Especially where the Aiden storyline is concerned.
I was a bit let down that the book didn't focus more on the action of the war of the gods, Ragnarok, as I was expecting, but I guess that will be in the last installment. There were definitely some intense moments in this book and we met some new, interesting characters along the way. I had a weird feeling about Derek...so I'm dying to find out what is really going on with him.
The cliffhanger ending of Dead Wrath REALLY left me wanting more.
Now, on to the negative and the reason I deducted a star. This book is rife with typos. On nearly every page. Things from misspellings, left out words, incorrect words - such as the use of was instead of were. The typos and mistakes were so numerous it really took away from the flow of the story as I had to stop and think many times about what the author was actually trying to say or fill in a word that she left out of a sentence.
That being said, this series is one of my guilty pleasures. I usually read more non-fiction than fiction so I do enjoy this adventure and I am a bit bummed that there is only one more book to look forward to.
Bryn had been tasked by Odin with leading the Asgardian army in the battle of Ragnarok. She is training new recruits from the Dwarven land as well as many other strange allies. War seems imminent and Bryn is just waiting for his next move. And what a deadly move that turns out to be. Before the week is out, Bryn will lose close family and dear friends, and just how lost will they be to her?
This series just brings out all the feels!!! I'm so heartbroken over the losses but also extremely excited for the quickly approaching final battle. It has been a long time since I have been so completely caught up in a series. Each and every book so far has been just an awesome adventure. I love the writing and the fact that the story never lets up. It is just go,go,go from start to finish. I'm a little nervous for the final book because anything can happen but I'm also super excited to dive right in!!
