Now, let me tell you WHY I could not complete this book. Within the first chapter, a character is arrested for the murder of another character. What evidence led the police to arrest her? The fact that she threatened to turn someone into a newt and that character was foudn strangled to death with a newt in her throat. Somehow, this qualifies as enough evidence for the character to be immediately hauled off to jail! What?!? Granted, there is supposed to be a suspension of disbelief, particularly in a novel which is supposed ro be paranormal but the basic world is contemporary Earth in the USA. No police officer oild arrest anyone on such flimsy evidence and no prosecutor would back it. If you have failed to do basic research on criminal procedure or even making the 'crime' somewhat believable, you need to rework the plot, the characters, everything.
Tl;dr - save your money!

If you're a fan of the genre I'm sure it's excellent, but I prefer something a bit longer with more of a puzzle. That's also true of the romance element, which was pretty simplistic too. Tend to agree with the reviewer who thought this was more of a book for a younger age group.
It was free, so great value. It was also a pleasant way to pass a few hours. However, if called on to pay, I'd think twice, as there are plenty of good crime books about which would offer a more fulfilling read.
In conclusion, as I say in the title, it was a good read, but it isn't really to my taste.
This is a straightforward cozy murder mystery that delivers exactly what it says on the front cover. A very pleasing read for a few hours relaxation. This series promises to be good fun.
A Nice comfortable story and relaxing read.
