About the Author
In 2007, I moved from Texas to Pittsburgh. As a lifelong horror fan, I knew the importance of Pennsylvania to horror history, having been the setting behind all of George Romero's film, and counted myself lucky to be in such a horror holy land. During my first month, I visited Evans City, where the original Night of the Living Dead was filmed, and got to meet most of the original cast. I assumed that my glee at seeing such a site was something unique to a real horror geek like myself. Then I met a group of people who invited me to something called "ZombieFest." Sure, I'd been to horror conventions before, but I was unprepared for the amount of love these people had for the genre. My book Deadlands had just come out, so I thought I might find a few fans. What I found was more than eight-hundred zombies who walked through the Monroeville Mall that Sunday, and I knew I'd found my kind of people. Over the next couple of years, I had a few more books come out, but never lost touch with my new lifeless friends. When I got word that the publisher of Deadlands was closing up shop, I honestly didn't think anyone would notice. But the lifeless hordes did. It is with the deepest thanks and respect to the zombie fans, and to Library of the Living Dead, for reprinting this book, as it is one of my proudest achievements. Many thanks go to all of the Lifeless and to Library of the Living Dead for letting Deadlands shamble forth again. Scott A. Johnson Author of Deadlands
