About the Author
Gail Baugniet was born in a small Wisconsin town located on the western shore of Lake Michigan. She spent the first several decades enjoying the sugar-sand beaches and snow sports. Then she decided year-round warm weather was more appealing and she now considers Hawaii her home.

Baugniet's skillful writing casts a wide net as she introduces us to a complex chain of people and events that don't seem connected. Descriptions are detailed and colorful, and we can easily visualize the characters and settings--even smell whatever is cooking in the kitchen! As the story progresses, new suspects and motives are exposed in a well-paced manner, and we can't help but reconsider our previous choice of "bad guy." Plotted in the spirit of a true whodunit, the twists and turns are logical yet unpredictable, and the last few pages tie up any loose ends. Highly recommended.
Laurie Hanan, author of the Louise Golden mysteries
I liked this book better than the first one, but Pepper still shows only mild reactions to things. Even having a gun pointed at her by a drunk, angry cop doesn't seem to elicit much response.
Hope she gets some fire in her by the next book!
