The top security firm in Las Vegas, The Rockford Securities Series, opens with CEO Blake Rockford upset with his best friend and employee Dino Machiavelli. Feeling he should be put into a lower profile position for the company, Blake assigns Dino to be a bodyguard to a country music star.
Is Blake being a matchmaker? Walking into the recording studio to meet his client couldn’t prepare Dino for who he would be protecting. What you will soon find out is Dino and Blake the high school football stars were also friends of January Winters in high school. Dino was also the love of Jan’s life and broke her heart, when Jan felt he was cheating on her with head cheerleader Erin McCabe.
Fifteen years have passed, since Dino had given up his life dream of a football career with he had a knee injury. As an adopted member of the Rockford clan, Dino had a great career change in the security firm. Nothing could prepare him for meeting January Winters again, let alone be her bodyguard. As you know, the sparks will fly, memories will return, and all the while protecting Jan from her stalker.
As one reviewer stated, please don’t start this book before retiring. I made that mistake and by 2:00 am and my eyes were closing I kept saying, please just one more page.
One of the things I liked about the book, is you really didn’t know who the stalker was; the story line leads you down a path that you don’t expect. Just when you think Jan is safe you find out she is not.
There is enough mystery around the whole thing and while I knew the perp about half way through the book, I didn't figure out the reason why until the end reveal. There were just too many secrets kept around the whole place that if one of them was honest the whole thing may have been avoided. And let's just say the FMC had too many too stupid to live moments in the book that things got ugly. Still, it's a pretty good "Bodyguard" tale.
What a great story line kept me on the edge of my seat.
If you injoy stories.
