The series set in the Kansas City area features Lindsey a talented chocolatier and baker and her quirky group of friends as well as her guard cat King Henry. She can't resist a mystery and is prone to dragging her friends along much to the chagrin of her detective boyfriend. Yes that is the basic Cozy Trope however, Ms Berneathy demonstrates her master of the genre by delivering a well written, well plotted eminently readable adventure with a healthy dose of humor (Ok many would say Snark). You will be grinning, giggling or down right laughing as you read the book.
Now I am not her normal audience (older and male) but I discovered this genre several years ago starting with Janet Evanovich and Stephanie Bond and I was hooked.
I know actively seek out those authors who include humor (or twisted wit as some would call it) in their writing. Reading should be an enjoyable escape and Sally seems to understand that.
Each book is a complete and could stand alone but there is some additional enjoyment to see the series as it grows so if you have not read the earlier books I would suggest it. You will then see how this quirky group was formed.
Looking forward to the next book
Kathleen was the perfect woman you love to hate. This series gets better with every book!
