This book! This book is so heartbreaking yet at the same time it was an adventure with a heroine while works so hard to overcome her past, while finding true love and becoming a new woman.
The writing was amazing. KL is able to pull you in and make you fall i lmao love with these characters, their pasts, and the side characters.
The plot was so heartbreaking. We learn about it in book one but seeing the characters experience it in someone else's eyes will never give you the full feels as you get when you read it from the victims eyes. The action, the pain, the joy. We feel it all.
Overall this book was amazing. It does deal with some tough themes, but if you give it a chance, KL was very delicate and understanding with the tougher parts. Buckle in for a wild ride you will take with Sam and Winter!
There is a trigger warning. The rape scene is pretty graphic so please be warned.
Talk about how tight knit the characters were, you don't have to be family by blood to be family they all looked out for one another and cared deeply the men in this group/family are really Hot caring sweet but absolutely deadly dangerous if you get on the wrong side of them
This books main character was Winter what that poor girls been through in the last few years was totally devastating, how she carried on with her life is something to be commended!
when Winter finally explained her story to everyone, it had me in bits, goose bumps on my arms...and if a books can do that to me then I know I found a special Author that can get to me......tissues were definitely needed. ( lots of em) lol!
All in all a Fantastic Read, I would definitely recommend this book and series to others
Congratulations to the Author on another Amazing book. ( and can you hurry up with the next one please I need my fix of more in this series because I need to feed my addiction
This time our main characters are Sophia's best friend Winter and Sophia's army team mate Sam. There is an instant connection between Winter and Sammie and all he is wants to do is protect her and kill whoever it was that put the fear in her eyes and causes her to flinch away from physical affection even from her family.
It's an instant love at first sight between Winter and Sammie as Winter deals with her issues caused by her rape and the healing she now has to do mentally as well as physically and Sammie who wants to make sure she's safe and protected at all times even when he doesn't know the full story.
I loved getting to know Winter more in this book as she came across a bit of a loose cannon and a bit of a b**ch in Deadly Hunt, so it was nice to see the reasons behind her behaviour and understand them better.
I adored Sammie, he came across so protective, loyal and passionate from the beginning and didn't let up. This was especially apparent when he finds out about Winters past and that the tormentor from her dreams returns.
This story is well put together with a lot of thought and sincerity, even though it covers more intense topics such as rape, obsession and trauma, just like book 1.
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
After a vicious assault four year ago, Winter Cortez has sober up and is able to get up every morning. That’s until she receives a call that will turn her life upside-down again.
Determined to face her demons, Winter comes back to New York when she meets Sam Mitchell, a former Military man who will do whatever it takes to protect her from her attacker.
I liked the hero, he was an alpha male, possessive & protective over the heroine and fell hard over heels upon just one look at her, and I know it was insta-love but I enjoy that kind of readings so that wasn’t the problem. The problem was Winter. Ahhhh, I’m sorry but I didn't like her at all. I couldn't deal with her multiple personalities. She was attacked, so I got that she would be shy, right? And she was but then one moment she is freaking out and the other she is going all femme fatale on Sam… It gave me a case of whiplash.
While the suspense part was interesting, and there were even a few scenes that I really enjoyed, I just couldn't help but feel like something was missing the entire time reading.
That being said, as much as I wanted to love this story, I felt myself struggling to connect with the characters.
Bottom line. It just didn't hit all the spots to make me love it but that doesn't mean you won't do it.
