There is possibility and promise here but there is a long road until it really passes muster.
First of all, I was very irritated by the way the book was written. Meanwhile, it had somewhat of an interesting plot (that's why I'm giving it 2 stars), the writing made the book dull and annoying. I found myself revising all of the sentences as I was reading. For example, the author repeated some words and phrases soo many times that it made the story sound as if it was written by a high school student. I caught the author starting all her sentences with "SHE" like 7 times in a row. The love scenes were boring and lacked passion. Anne seemed to have problems with her vision. How is it possible to not recognize someone after he saves you in the parking lot? Michael seemed to come to the rescue whenever Anne was in trouble, and this NEVER happens in real life. So, little details like these made the book dull and unrealistic for me.... Even though I am interested in Lane and Frankie's story in the 2nd book, I won't be reading it because of the horrible writing.
What are the chances that you would randomly catch the eye if some guy in a bar, that he would be in the parking lot at exactly the moment you were going to get attacked and that the next morning at the courthouse, you would literally run into him when you snuck into an employee's lounge area? Oh yes, and he just happens to be your soon to be ex-husband's attorney.
If you are still willing to go along with this, then add in that he also just happens to be on the scene when she is carjacked AND that when you inherit a farm two hours away, it turns out that the hero had purchased the adjacent property a couple of months ago AND guess who is the district attorney in the county where you have moved to?
I liked the yummy description of how cute the Hero was, but the poor guy was no brain surgeon. Putting a dead bolt on the front door but not the back was one of several things that caused eye-rolling. The worst one was later in the story.
Not sure about all the time spent on the wind technology element which turned out to have nothing to do with advancing the plot or involving relevant characters. The scene with the heroine been lauded for her fifth grade analysis of wind technology was laughable. I'm not sure whether it was an insult to the heroine or perhaps to the IQ of the readers.
When I saw the ratings for this, I ordered the book, only to realize it was already on my ereader. I had started it and stopped many months ago. Now I know why.
