Deadly Psychiatry and Organised Denial Kindle Edition
In his book, Gøtzsche debunks the many myths that leading psychiatrists - very often on drug industry payroll - have created and nurtured over decades in order to conceal the fact that biological psychiatry has generally been a failure. Biological psychiatry sees drugs as the "solution" for virtually all problems, in marked contrast to the patients' views. Most patients don't respond to the drugs they receive but, unfortunately, the psychiatrists' frustrations over the lack of progress often lead to more diagnoses, more drugs and higher doses, harming the patients further.

If you read this book you will find this may be one of the most important book to read in your life. It is practical. If you apply lessons learned to your own personal situation, once it happens, or to your family '(unfortunately, living in the highly industrialized society is already a risk), you will save yourself countless unnecessary and possibly grave suffering, even death. That is why it is very right so to call psychiatry deadly. It is not a libel and it is the gravest of scandals that the industry of big farma and psychiatry, cozy in bed together, can continue with their mass murder scheme in the public eye. It is organized denial of truth that allows them to do so. Every year between Europe and America about 500 000 people die untimely death because they were - often unnecessarily, put on harmful psychiatric drugs. After heart and cancer it is the third most important killer. The estimate is conservative, the real numbers can be higher
The book tells you a story how it happened and why it keeps happening. Part of the reason is organized public manipulation, PR campaigns and manipulation of perception. Isn't is acceptable and even culturally normative to "eat Prozac"? Is not nearly everyone on it and isn't it helping them? Aren't the pills "happy pills" and are not all of them approved by regulatory authorities and promoted by respectable doctors with all but the best interests of their patients on their mind? Is not all of that based on the best evidence? How could it be otherwise if it were not?
Money.
For instance, Olanzapine by Eli Lily brings in 5 billion dollars yearly. It does not make a dent if the big farma is forced to pay huge fines (they do!) of comparable amount, they still come ahead. They are corrupt and corrupting everything. They do not stop at anything and nothing is sacred to them. They do not care. Not even your life. You will read also what they already did to other people and you will not be able to believe how could that ever happen. The saddest stories of destroyed lives after decades of unbearable suffering. Yet they were not even suffering from psychiatric condition to start with, being misdiagnosed. Decades of unbearable suffering go unpunished and the victim, who dies, received continually "the best standard of psychiatric care." Now you know. Run!
Read it your self to see how is it possible. Do it soon before the criminals remove it from the market. You can buy the print edition now for over 600 dollar. Right now (as of October 2018) a major attack has been staged by the crime industry, via the CEO, to remove Peter Gøtzsche from the leadership of Cochrane collaboration, fundamental evidence based medicine institute, he co-founded 25 years ago. You will not believe your own eyes - this is about objective scientific truth - they succeeded in their plot, citing "behaviors" of Peter Gøtzsche as a reason. After reading this book you know what "behaviors" are. One is calling psychiatry deadly.
Perhaps you remember the iconic picture of a lonely man standing to the tank column in one unnamed capital city a while ago? This is the relevant picture and those are the methods used. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? Expect better. Progress.
Two years later after that episode, after reading him and others, I was depressed and tried a natural stimulant glutamine, and little did I know, as doctors don't even know that it makes people with bipolar severely manic. (so maybe I do have bipolar and it wasn’t just the antidepressants, or andtidepressants changed my brain so much that they created bipolar in me) I was care free because I thought it was not a psychotropic. I was psychotic and delusional and manic. And then two years later, I took a natural pill for bipolar Empower plus and made me manic again, it had glutamine but they said, Truehope the business that makes it, it was not enough to make me manic.
So, what I’m I suppose to do??? Be careless and give up lithium, or have no medication and always stay with depression? We can't say all psychotropic drugs are bad, yes, they are bad, but the bad use is what makes them that way. I wished I had antimanic medication when manic, was I supposed to be delusional and doing reckless actions that I regret now and all of my life? Mania can ruin a person’s life in horrible ways even more than depression, and also a manic episode will lead to the most severe depression. So, for me reading the bipolar chapter I find that there was an editor lacking, there was not enough information about it, and list of what to do. But I do give credit, antidepressants are horrible, they will make you manic, paranoid and suicidal, and worst if you drop the suddenly that is the worst-case scenario. But sometimes they work. I always wonder what would my life been without antidepressants, I really think I would not have bipolar as I do now, or given only lithium, I would have done better. It took away a huge portion of my life the most important years dealing with this and I am still. And I can't imagine, as I said a person in mania not given medication, if not he or she will ruin their life and bank account.
It’s true that with antidepressants people need to tapper and really a lot of psychiatrist don’t say or even know anything about it.
The book gives some cites, but I have been checking theme and gotten any answer because of bipolar.
Anyways I don’t know about Schizophrenia, but in psychosis, but the way to stop and episode is with pills, it’s better than just doing things you will regret for the rest of your life.
This book is so powerfully written that I had to read it slowly, even stopping for a day or two to assimilate the material and relate it to my own life.
Note: I have a BA in psychology from UPenn, a MA in psychology from Temple U, worked in the Philadelphia State Hospital in the early seventies, and am a former Licensed Psychological Examiner in North Carolina (back in the days of DSM-2). More recently, I have taken ten courses in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at the Beck Institute.
Read this book. Then read "The Book of Woe" by Garry Greenberg about DSM-5.
The solution about what to do with psychiatric illnesses is simplistic.

The reader has to wait until late in the book for the clearest statement of the deaths caused by the drug classes discussed, when the evidence and calculations are finally presented they come as less of a shock and cause less of an outrage than they otherwise might. That is probably a good thing as the calculations should probably be read and understood with a clear mind. Even in our cold-heartedd times, the unecessary and deliberate killing of literally millions is not something to take lightly.
Caution - I don't think I am either the most or least sensitive individual - parts of this book are close to heart-breaking.
As a recipient of psychiatric treatment myself, picking up this book marked the first and only time I have ever felt understood and validated in matters pertaining to my own mental health. I could not put the book down.
