What does "flash fiction style" mean?
Generally, flash fiction is any story written in 1000 words or less. Some people would take that number a bit higher to include stories written in 2000 words or less. For the writer, this poses the unique challenge of communicating all the necessary elements of a story, minus the filler. The result is tight writing. My first piece of flash fiction, that I submitted for on line publication, one first prize through Flash Fiction World. I began thinking that exploring my character through this style would be very helful.
How long are the stories?
I decided to write each story in 5-7 scenes of about 1000 words each. It wasn't always easy. But I love a challenge!
