In my humble opinion, this is what great writing is all about. Great stories, interesting characters, great arch stories, comedy, drama, amazing art, and all the crazy stuff that goes inside one of the most infamous anti-heroes from the Marvel universe. If you grew up in the 90's you will be very familiar with the jokes and puns Deadpool trows around. I started reading Deadpool back in the 90's and it always cracked me up with his nut-job jokes and his poise when dealing with difficult situations. He is a very unique and conflicted character, is he a hero, is he a villain, a little bit of both? Joe Kelly is just an incredible writer, but you can't ignore the creativity of Ed McGuinness, Bernard Chang, Shannon Denton, Pete Woods, Walter McDaniel and David Brewer, they all contributed to this Omnibus.

You will travel back in time with Sirin, Blind Al, Weazel, Wolverine, the Task Master, The Hulk, Dare Devil, Captain America, Monty (he is awesome! just loved the casino scene with Deadpool as "Ricardo Montalban") T-Ray, Spider Man, Bullseye and a bunch more of infamous characters. If you are a fan of Joe Kelly and Deadpool's "un-shutapable" (I know that's not a word...) humor, get this Omnibus, it is just plain awesome.

What you get: Deadpool (1997) # 1-33, # - and #0; Daredevil/Deadpool Annual '97; Deadpool & Dead Annual '98; Baby's First Deadpool Book; Amazing Spider - Man (1963) # 47 and #611; and material from Deadpool (2008) 3 900 and more than 1000 pages of fun.

Enjoy it!

Since his debut in NEW MUTANTS #98 (Feb. 1991), Deadpool has been one the fastest-rising stars in the world of mainstream superhero comics in the last twenty years or so, and as superheroes have exploded into mainstream pop culture over the past two decades, Deadpool AKA Wade Wilson AKA "The Merc' with a Mouth" has had some crossover exposure in TV (ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN) and movies (X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE). He even has his own videogame! At this point, I'm assuming if you're reading a Deadpool comic collection review on Amazon, you might have at least heard of or seen Deadpool already. You might even have read a number of Deadpool series already. Maybe he's your favorite character. Maybe you LOVE Deadpool, but..

Unless you have read Joe Kelly's character-defining run, you do not KNOW Deadpool.

That is the #1 appeal of this collection. It is the overall least-expensive, easiest way to get what is seen by many as the single greatest Deadpool run in the character's history.

As a reprint collection goes, the colors looks great compared to the original issue. It fully stands up to the level of quality expected from a Marvel Omnibus. The biggest disappointment is the lack of ALL-NEW supplemental content, but there's plenty of classic cover sketches and character designs and breakdowns and various Joe Kelly interviews from back in the day to fill out the book.

Joe Kelly's epic masterpiece, the reason why we have the Deadpool that we have today, finally collected into one place for fans and casual readers alike. I've always considered Marvel's comic universe to be the most 'complete' in the sense of a total fantasy world, but I'm no Marvel fanboy, personally prefer the Image universe, but that's besides the point. Deadpool, from my perspective is by far and away the most versatile character that Marvel has, comedy, drama, action, any and everything you could want to do with this character, you can do. I was more than psyched to see that Deadpool would be played as a pansexual in the up coming movie, as the character is, throughout the comic series as a whole, constantly being hinted at having a very 'all encompassing' approach to sexuality. But this omnibus is where it all started, not the character, but the whole Deadpool persona and history, Kelly made the Merc with a Mouth the person he is today, and while many other authors have come and gone, Kelly left his mark. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in the character, sure not all the jokes land today, but the story and the varying arcs are still wonderful and fun to reread. If you want a more dramatic/character driven Deadpool, the only other source would be the Uncanny X-Force omnibus. This one is certainly one of Marvel's gems and I can't recommend it high enough as a person who truly enjoys literature and storytelling, take a read of Joe Kelly's Deadpool, it's a wild ride and a promise of what Marvel should be.

I don't need to review Deadpool. Way is great, but Kelly really just kills it. I love his run, and he's brilliant. But this is more about "is there $80-120 of value in these MCU Omnibus'"? YES. I cannot come close to explaining how impressed I am at their durability, if not weight. I am a moron, but I took this 8lb Deadpool Omnibus on two round trip plane rides halfway across the earth... Iceland in the winter, and Maui in the summer. It saw every element, every extreme, and it held up INCREDIBLY well. Perfectly. Literally.. the spine and the book is in 100% condition. It's beautifully constructed, and impressive as far as books go. You get more than a decade of Deadpool for a few bucks. It's fantastic.
