About the Author

Dave Horwitz and Marisa Pinson met while performing Improv and Sketch comedy at LA’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. The two started Dealbreaker, a blog where they could vent their frustrations about their ill-fated dating lives. They now bring their unique sensibilities to Dealbreaker (the book), at the risk of rendering themselves undateable to anyone who Googles them. They both live in Los Angeles.

So hilarious and so dead-on! It seems like our generation has really outdone themselves in making dating so complicated. How are so many people so ridiculous? I refuse to believe I'm picky just because I can't take a guy seriously for wearing non-prescription black-framed glasses.

I pre-ordered this book awhile ago. I'm a huge fan of the Dealbreaker blog, and was excited to get the book. I got it in the mail 2 days ago, read it, passed it to my roommates, they read it, and it will most likely become a reference guide about the plethora of awful people who are available to us! Like people with ironic mustaches, people who most likely have cocaine problems, people who text you 20 times in 20 minutes and then begin to threaten you for not responding. Funny and reassuring - your choosiness is not your fault!

Great illustrations, too!

This book is so much more than a list of hilarious dating foibles. The authors take us on a journey from date one, to relationship, to, don't text me, I'll text you and aptly demonstrate that sometimes "it's not me, it is YOU!" But, they could be wrong, cheesy porno mustaches might make a comeback one day and then they will have to revise. Until that day, disregard these Dealbreakers at your peril. PS, the illustrations, photos, etc., are gut busting as well. Fun book, fantastic gift,

I had to resist the temptation to go through this book and check off the ones that apply to me (criminally low self-esteem, you see), but this is hilarious. Of course, not everything in here will scare everyone off. Well, except maybe the pickup artist and the guy who doesn't like pizza (the latter of which leads to a hilarious spluttering breakdown on behalf of the person who does), but let's be honest -- you've met at least a few people like the characters in this book.

The book is an equal-opportunity offender -- both male and female dealbreakers are covered in much detail. The authors' background in sketch comedy shines through, as most of what's in here is actually funny (which evidently isn't always required in humor books); the writing style reminds me of several of the artists in the webcomic universe encompassing Questionable Content, Something Positive, Girls with Slingshots, and the like (particularly Jeph Jacques and Danielle Corsetto), which sets just about the perfect tone. The art, unfortunately, is a little dicey -- the illustrator might be shooting for Stan Lee, but between awkward shapes and proportions, frequent trips into the uncanny valley, and a general, I don't know, "squiggliness", the art's a lot more Rob Liefeld.

Hey, it's good dating humor. If you like that sort of thing, this is the sort of thing you'll like.

We live in a time where there are so many books based on blogs. Many of them are just printed versions of the blog and really have nothing new to say. Dealbreaker is definitely NOT one of those books. It is absolutely hilarious from start to finish, and the short, punchy entries keep you wanting more. I thought it was going to be one of those "I'll read a few pages at a time" books, but i read the whole thing, cover to cover, in two days. I laughed out loud. a lot. So to summarize. It's good and you will "lol" a lot.

This book is fantastic!! Being single these days does suck, especially when the majority of my friends are married. But I think that we all still need to have standards and DEALBREAKERS!!! This book is a quick, but well worth the buy :) It is very relatable and unbelievably hilarious!
