Product Description

Dave Mustaine named his signature acoustic-electric guitar "Mako" because of its shark gill-shaped sound hole, dorsal fin-shaped bridge, and shark's teeth pearl inlays. The sound hole provides plenty of projection while the sharp Florentine cutaway on the mahogany body with spruce top promotes upper fretboard shredding. The built-in tuner ensures the only chords you play are intentional. Dave uses his Mako in the studio for layering and texturing tracks and features it on the intro to "The Hardest Part of Letting Go." Other distinctive features on the Dave Mustaine Mako include an ebony fingerboard, black Nub one nut and saddle, Grover tuners, and B-Band A3TY preamp with the aforementioned tuner.

I received this guitar and I had my doubts as to its quality and sound. When I got it, no fault of the seller the shippers are brutal on boxes I will not list them on here. But the box was dented pretty bad, but anyway I thought to myself OMG. Not the cast this baby was perfect in everyway. The sound is amazing and it resonates so well accoustically. I have played high end Gibson accoustics and man was this thing ever close to that sound amazing. The finish is beautiful, the graphics are awe inspiring well painted no flaws in the paint what so ever. The on board tuner works great, when you have to tune if you are playing live with it plugged into a amp it will kil the sound of the guitar so you don't look like dork while tuning it between songs. The electronics in this thing are rock solid, I plugged it into my electric guitar setup which is a POD HD 500 into a Egnater 20W Tweaker amp through a 4x12 Orange close back cabinet. For a second I forgot it was an accoustic, until I realized I am not a hardcore accoustic player and chewed up my fingers rather quick. For those of you who don't know electric guitars require a lot less pressure on the strings vs an accoustic, hence why my fingers got chewed up. Back to the guitar the fretboard is beautiful also ebony which I have never seen on an accoustic guitar, but for high end custom jobs you can order them like this guitar. The bang for your buck on this guitar is above par, you would be crazy to pass this baby up. I don't know if they are going to be a limited run but they are hard to get your hands on trust me!

Very impressed with the tone quality and action. The graphics are spectacular (Which is very important to the 13 year old it was purchased for) and the quality of the tuners and electronic preamp with tuner are better than I expected for a guitar in this price range. Several musicians in the family were jealous as they thought back to their first guitars.

When it arrived I thought it was cracked all the way down the body but called and talked to a dean rep and come to find out it was only poor craftsmanship installing the graphics. And it was the seam of the graphic overlaying the other. No big deal now that I know. The guitar looks beautiful and sounds beautiful. Deep rich tone with great presence. I've seen a lot of reviews saying it had no sound or not good sound. All I am say is learn to play and it sounds a lot better lol. My only comma int is the action is so high you can't play it long without killing your fingers. But that's an easy fix. Just a file some sand paper and about 20 mins. And she'll play as well as any other guitar. All in all well worth price. But it definitely has to have the action lowered on it. As well as make sure you get the bridge back in 100% because the pickup is the tail piece and it won't play through an amp if the bridge isn't perfectly setting in place I would have given it 5 stars if the action was already set better from the factory.

Bought through Amazon Warehouse. They classified this used guitar as in excellent condition. It was not. There was a chunk out of the front edge that puts the condition of this guitar in fair condition at best.
Other than that, everything worked.
That is not to say that it is a great guitar. It is a very handsome guitar and should be a prized possession for any beginner. However, if you are more discerning I'd look elsewhere.
The sound generated by this instrument leans heavily toward the 'Tinny' side.
Surprisingly smooth neck, low frets and decent action. I replaced the D'Addario strings with like Manufacturer only using Silk and Steel strings. It really helps that tinny sound, but does not eliminate it..

Received the guitar damaged, paint has come off on the neck and is pealing off. The damage is not from the courier but from the supplier or the manufacture as the packaging was done so well that its impossible for the guitar to get damaged while delivery. But the guitar sound and looks is amazing but yes received the item defective, if I did not have the paint problem would have given it 5 stars

So this is my second dean guitar that has shipped and let me just say it is a really a great guitar! Looks and sounds like a charm! But the only reason why i gave it a low rating is because the guitar is damaged. Now mind you, the packaging and the box have no visible tinkering or any signs of mishandling. The only explanation I can think of is it was probably already damaged during the packing. Amazon gives us the option for free shipping which i regret to select, I highly recommend to dish out the extra cash for a better shipping and handling. It has cost me around 30 to 40 dollars on each returned item. So better shipping is the way to go.
1 star due to damaged items... would have given 5 stars without any degradation on the item. I'm currently deployed so having 2 damaged guitars shipped is unacceptable and just adds insult to injury. Was looking forward to playing but now I have to wait longer for a hopeful, cross-fingered damage-free product. Sigh!

Amazing guitar. It was purchased as an auction item for an event to support our military. Aaron Lewis played that night, I had him sign it, and it sold for $7500.00
