Is your body betraying you? Are you constantly feeling low on energy, chronically inflamed, or running for the toilet every time you eat? Have you been diagnosed with celiac disease, gluten sensitivity or an autoimmune disorder? Do you experience lingering symptoms despite your best effort to eat gluten free?

In Dear Gluten, It’s Not Me, It’s You, Jenny Levine Finke shows you how to take control of your diet, kick gluten to the curb, restore your health, and live a life free from annoying and painful symptoms.

Jenny gets it. She is a patient of celiac disease herself. She only felt marginally better after breaking up with gluten. Over the years she realized it was going to take more than simply swapping out wheat bread for gluten-free bread if she was going to heal her broken body.

Consider Dear Gluten your transformational guidebook to eating gluten free AND healing your body. Jenny will help you see why gluten is up to no good, how to get all of gluten’s sneaky bits out of your life, and other steps you can do to heal your body, restore your gut health, and live a symptom-free, healthy life.

Goodbye, Gluten. Hello healthy you!

Inside the book you’ll find:

A Foreword written by bestselling author and leading gluten sensitivity doctor, Dr. Tom O’Bryan.

Stories from world-class athletes and successful people living – and thriving – with gluten disorders, including break up with gluten stories from:

• Dana Vollmer, 4x Olympic Gold Medalist
• Beatie Deutsch, Israeli Marathon Champion
• Nichole Thomas, Former Syracuse University Basketball Player
• Dr. Patrick Staropoli, Professional Stock Car Racer
• Shannon Ford, Former Mrs. United States and Miami Dolphins Cheerleader

More About the Book

Review

Jenny has done a tremendous job in bringing back awareness to a critically important subject - how gluten threatens our health. No, the problem never went away. But avoiding gluten, although fundamentally important for health, has become yet another inconvenient truth. Jenny provides the latest science confirming gluten's role in so many modern-day maladies and provides a cogent approach to navigating a healthful gluten-free life. -David Perlmutter, MD, author, #1 New York Times bestseller Grain Brain and Brain Maker

Jenny not only makes a compelling case for why gluten is hurting so many people, but also she shows us exactly what we need to do to get it out of our lives for good. But Jenny doesn't stop there. She goes where few books about celiac disease have gone before by showing us how she healed her body beyond the gluten-free diet, and how she put her celiac disease into remission and reclaimed her health once and for all. -Jill C. Carnahan, MD ABIHM, ABIoM, IFMCP and Medical Director of Flatiron Functional Medicine

Jenny is the patient expert when it comes to healing celiac disease and gluten sensitivity with good nutrition. Her astute knowledge makes breaking up with gluten and going gluten-free much less daunting. -Elana Amsterdam New York Times bestselling author of The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook and Founder of Elana's Pantry.

I develop gluten free recipes for a living, motivated by a desire to cater to my son's gluten-free diet, to ensure that his food is at least as good, if not better, than everyone else's. But the moment we leave the house, I'm out of my depth. Jenny's book will help you understand your diagnosis, advocate for yourself and your health, and deal with the intense emotions that are unavoidable along the way. Jenny truly understands what it means to live a healthy, gluten-free lifestyle that goes well beyond breaking things off with gluten. - Nicole Hunn, Founder and Author of Gluten Free on a Shoestring

"In Dear Gluten, It's Not Me, It's You, Jenny provides a clear road map on how to make the split with gluten and begin the long healing process from the damage it causes to sensitive individuals. Her practical tips and authentic voice offer readers guidance, assurance, and hope when transitioning to a gluten-free lifestyle." - Scott Adams, CEO of Celiac.com

Jenny provides a real-life perspective on what it's like to live a gluten-free lifestyle. Her blueprint for improving gut health and healing your entire body is comprehensive and goes beyond just eating gluten-free foods. Jenny's personal story is one so many of us can relate to and her lovely way of helping us heal will benefit everyone dealing with health challenges. I highly encourage everyone that is struggling with their health to read this book and finally start to heal your whole body. - Jen Cafferty, Founder & CEO, The Nourished Group

Jenny is a force in the gluten-free community. She has been advocating on healthy lifestyle and choices, not just eating gluten free. Removing gluten from your life is often difficult and filled with emotions. Jenny helps you to work through those emotions in this amazing book. With her blueprint you can now take the next steps to healing your body. Anyone with a gluten intolerance needs this book to start on their path to healing. - Jennifer Bigler, Founder of Living Freely Gluten Free and Author of 101 Incredible Gluten-Free Recipes

The Hollywood gluten-free fad left a perception about the diet that is often misunderstood. Jenny clears things up beautifully with, "Dear Gluten, It's Not Me, It's You". Finally, a fresh and humanistic perspective on the gluten-free diet with relevant and current information. - Josh Schieffer, Author of Gluten Free Buyers Guide

After receiving a confirmed diagnosis of celiac disease a couple of months ago, I searched Amazon for a good book on the subject and how to approach gluten free life - and this was the one I chose based on the description and reviews. I'm very happy with my choice! I found it interesting, informative, supportive and, most importantly, helpful. I read it from cover-to-cover, and have it on my recipe book shelf as I'm sure I'll want to refer to it again in future. I also find the author's website and Instagram posts very helpful.

I really loved reading this book! The whole concept of breaking up with gluten is so clever and funny and so right on the nose! That's exactly how it feels to go gluten free! And I loved the metaphor that if you've been stabbed in the gut, you can't just remove the knife (or the gluten), you also have to heal. The author offers so much helpful advice on helping your body heal... I took notes! I love that she includes recipes at the end, too! If you've been diagnosed with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity or intolerance, you MUST read this book! Your sense of humor and your body will thank you!

I’m going gluten free I’ve realized that there is a loooooot of information out there. Sometimes it’s hard to decode what it all means or even put things into perspective or easily digestible pieces to add to my life in order to prolong it.

This book has been a literal life saver. It helps that a lot of the information has been unknowingly co signed by my nutritionist and I’ve been able to take control of my life by saying goodbye to gluten.

To anyone with a gluten allergy, non celiac gluten sensitivity, or celiac disease I would recommend this book as an introductory resource. It has definitely helped me understand what I need to do to help my body and hopefully this review will help someone else help themselves or someone they love.

God bless this author.

Although I had learned a lot about gluten-free living since being diagnosed with celiac 10 years ago, this book puts so much together in one place. It's a great resource. Jenny captures many of the emotions of giving up gluten and I especially appreciate the exploration into dealing with ongoing mysterious health issues even after eliminating gluten.

Whether you’re dealing with a major gluten issue like celiac disease or are simply curious about reducing or eliminating gluten from your diet, “Dear Gluten, It’s Not Me, It’s You” provides a wealth of practical information. Jenny Levine Finke’s writing style is like having a conversation with a trusted friend, and she cleverly structures her book like a relationship-ending how-to manual. Part I, “The Breakup” is all about the initial phase of cutting gluten from your life, with helpful guidance about symptoms of gluten intolerance, dietary substitutions, restaurant eating, and even how to deal with the emotions of going gluten-free. Part II, “The Healing” is filled with words of hope and encouragement, as well as helpful advice grounded in Jenny’s own journey about restoring balance and vitality to your health. The book’s third section features her delectable, home-kitchen-proven recipes like Banana Bread, Orange Chicken, Homemade Pasta, and even treats like pancakes, cakes and cookies. No matter where you fall on the gluten-free spectrum, you’ll find much to enjoy and learn from this book.

I heard Jenny Levine Finke interviewed by Dr. Tom O'Brien about this book and decided to buy it. I've been dealing with the gluten issue for a long time and there were a couple of areas that I thought would help me. I wasn't disappointed. The #1 issue for me is the emotional aspect of being gluten free and how I feel about how others feel about this issue. It sounds crazy, but apparently, I'm not alone in feeling this way. What a relief. I feel inspired to get back on track and clean up my diet so I can feel better. It helps that she is well grounded in the science of it too. There is a lot of information and tips about testing and dealing with this lifestyle.
