What a fun little mystery, and a quick, satisfying read! Death in Dahlonega is a fun, first effort by first time author, Deborah Malone.

Trixie is a reporter in search of her first big story, on a working vacation, ends up embroiled in a quick-who-dunnit when her best friend Dee Dee is accused of a grisly murder.

Set in the middle of the Dahlonega, Georgia, Malone takes her readers into the mountains, the crisp fall air, and introduces a flurry of characters!

I enjoyed the trip, meeting the town's people and trying to guess the culprit before the end. Excellent set up and satisfying conclusion. I hope this isn't the last of Trixie's adventures.

Death in Dahlonega by Deborah Malone is a Christian Cozy that is I really feel comfortable with. I like Christian Fiction, especially Amish Fiction but I tend to shy away from Christian cozies. When I read a cozy I like to relax and not ponder religious questions. Deborah Malone's writing is clever, witty and a joy to read.

Trixie Montgomery and her friend Dee Dee were all set to have a short vacation in Dahlonega, Georgia. Trixie, a historical writer got the assignment to write about The Gold Rush Day in the town. She invited her best friend Dee Dee along to enjoy the food, fun and do some sightseeing.

When they arrived at the hotel, John Tatum, pushed his way pass them, knocking them down. He didn't even stop to say he was sorry! Everyone in the town knew him. Later in the day, Dee Dee was late for meeting Trixie. Dee Dee had taken one of her innumerable bathroom breaks. She was taking a long time, then there was a loud scream and Trixie hurried to find Dee Dee. But Dee Dee was standing over a body holding a bloody pickaxe!

Poor Dee Dee was considered a suspect. So Trixie and Dee Dee set out to come up with the true murderer. Along the search that finds out many suspects, they all seemed to have a connection to John Tatum.

I thoroughly enjoyed this little cozy. Deborah Mahone makes you aware of the smells, tastes and sounds in the story making it come alive.

I highly recommend this cozy and would love to read the next one in the Trixie Montgomery Cozy Mystery Series.

I began reading Deborah Malone's "Death in Dahlonega" and my thoughts instantly ran to the television series, "Murder She Wrote." With a sweet, yet savvy main character, Trixie, a few love interests and the ultimate best friend, sidekick, you'll keep turning the pages trying to see whodunnit. "Death in Dahlonega" is a fun read for anyone!

Trixie Montgomery and her good friend Dee Dee, adventure off to the north Georgia Mountains, to write a historical article for the magazine Trixie works for. It doesn't take long for trouble to start brewing. Dee Dee is caught red-handed holding a bloody pickax over John Tatum. Trixie is bound and determined not to let her good friend take the rap for a murder she is sure Dee Dee didn't do. Trixie will stop at nothing until justice is served.

I'm not a cozy mystery reader. I don't like slapstick comedy. I just can't get into the funny side of something otherwise serious.

Yet ....

DEATH IN DAHLONEGA by DEBORAH MALONE is a terrific read. It's very well written with many comical moments, as well as unique lines. MS. MALONE will have you turning the pages with a mystery that will keep you guessing. If I were a cozy mystery reader, I'd purchase each of MS. MALONE'S novels.

I normally don't read too many mysteries, however this one caught my eye when it was number four on the Amazon ratings. When I got it I couldn't put it down. It was a fantastic read and full of suspense!

"Dahlonega" sounds like "bologna" should sound like, but this book is no baloney! The story has all the elements readers like me look for in a cozy mystery - good characters, interesting setting and tight plot. Trixie, Dee Dee and Nana were fun characters to watch as the story unfolded from Trixie's beginning a simple job assignment as a reporter, to her battling for Dee Dee's life as an accused murderer.
