While I was gifted an advance copy of this book by the author, I also purchased a copy for my collection and I am voluntarily offering this honest and unbiased review.
If you find this review helpful, I thank you for so indicating.
I devoured this story, just like I have with the other Ethan Drake books. This one had a lot of interesting moments, all ending with a new job offer for Ethan, maybe a couple of new friends, and a new enemy... the one who hired the werewolf merc to kill Ethan's family. Who is it? Why did they do it? I hope we find out in the next book. Until then, I am (not so) patiently waiting for the next book.
Followers of the series to this point won’t be disappointed - in fact you’ll be amply rewarded. I don’t write many book reviews but absolutely had to write this one for a purely selfish reason - I want more readers to discover this author so that he’ll write more books in this series for me to enjoy. And if you haven’t read the first two books in the series then definitely start at the beginning. This is a pretty dark character in a pretty dark world and you’ll want to get on the ride at the beginning as this book hinges on storylines begun in the prior two books.
Living the kind of life where “kill or be killed” is a norm, Ethan still manages to retain his humanity. Deeply damaged, he is not the easiest and most pleasant person to be around, but as you read the story, you can’t help but sympathize with him, caring about him as he gets deeper and deeper into troubles.
This is the third installment of the Ethan Drake series and it is the best one. If you haven’t started on this action-packed, dark Urban Fantasy series, you shouldn’t wait any longer. This is the kind of series you won’t be able to put down until you finish all three books, asking for the next one.
Top international reviews
Thown into the mix, an extortion gang with shark like tendencies, a Jack the
Ripper character stalking the city's working girls and a suspect who can disguise
themselves almost instantly. Not to mention Hannah/Zaglath/the Yakusa gunning for him.
Everywhere Ethan turns, there is death.
If you like your urban fantasy dark, brooding and murderous, with a sprinkling
of lewd humour and witty banter this is so the story for you.
With superb imagary and story telling, this is a very enjoyable and entertaining read,
but definitely 18+
