As usual, Ms Ehsani tells her story with verve and dry wit. A quote from the novel: “Generally speaking, decomposing bodies are not wholesome eating, and the line must be drawn somewhere.” That quote is apparently from an actual Victorian book of household management which has been referenced throughout these paranormal stories by Ms Ehsani.
Another marvelous book by one of my favorite authors, one that stretches my imagination in very good ways. Meet the African god of death, a ginormous spider who can spin a silk rope to reach the Sky, the god of lightning, Bea's flying horse, and lots more fascinating characters, all set in Victorian Nairobi. Great fun with a side order of education, it seems like each new book is my favorite until the next one arrives! As for the plot, the publisher's blurb gives hints and there is no need for spoilers here. Enjoy!
Vered Ehsani has a prolific imagination fed by folk lore of African origins. Readers become addicted to her wry humor and colorful cast of characters.
