Death Watch: A Horror Novel (The Waiting Mortuary Book 3) Kindle Edition
Welcome back to The Waiting Mortuary where being dead doesn’t always mean the end.
It's been a long time since Jack Skilton wrote an article for The Westport Press, but when rumors of a sinister presence lurking inside the waiting mortuary begin to spread, he's sent to Kessler's Funeral Home to investigate a possible haunting and what he discovers will definitely make front-page news if only he can live long enough to write about it.
Find out what happens in this horror thriller with supernatural elements written for audiences who enjoy turning pages at breakneck speed. Be warned this story is not for the faint of heart. What begins as a mystery will evolve into total terror.
Don’t miss DEATH WATCH, the third book in The Waiting Mortuary series by L.V. Pires.

This book was fast paced, and definitely kept me reading. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for a good scary book!
This was a voluntary review of a book I received free from Hidden Gems
The reporter also finds himself attracted to the current owner of the mortuary, a young woman who refuses to allow the property to be torn down until she resolves her issues with her dead father.
The story is compelling, however, I found the supposedly hardened reporter to be a bit soft when it came to uncovering the truth. He spent way too much time obsessing over his drug addict son who had been through five unsuccessful rehabs. He also let his feelings for the owner of the mortuary taint his judgment. His bad decisions cost him dearly.
Overall, this was a good story that could have used a bit more work to make it great.
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
This author has a writing style that makes for an easy read. I didnt have any problems envisioning what events were occurring. My issue is that I couldnt get myself deep enough in the story. I couldnt connect with any of the characters. During a few events I felt like the book was picking up momentum and it was more intriguing but not unlike a rollercoaster that just couldnt make it over the crest of that steep rise. Dont count this book out because of my personal opinion; it isnt poorly written. I just feel it could've grabbed me a little more.
