I am a member of Fr Machebeuf's first parish and have studied him as well as my parish's history for a long time. It didn't take long to spot the errors. Ms Bridgers often confuses Upper Sandusky and Lower Sandusky with Sandusky - not the first or the last person to do so. But the worst error regards the land which was donated for the building of what was later named Holy Angels Church in Sandusky. The land plus "$530, and all the stone and timber" needed to build the church was donated by Mr & Mrs William H Mills, NOT Mr Oran Follette (sic). (page 57) I have not finished the book since it is discouraging to see such glaring errors!
