This was my first read in the Karma Cafe series. On the whole it worked just fine as a standalone--each story has its own hero, heroine, and plot--though I did feel a bit out of the loop on the significance of the apartment above the cafe at first (no worries, Sam and Rose are too--it does become revealed in time, mostly). It was fun to look for the Sleeping Beauty parallels, and Sam and Rose are easy to root for. There is more than a touch of instalove, though, and a longer format probably might have given us more Sam-and-Rose-together-time than this novella affords. Still, it was a fun way to spend an evening, and I'll definitely pick up other books in the series in the future.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Upon arriving in town, Sam suggests they meet at the Karma Cafe. As Rose enters the Cafe’s kitchen, she feels a sense of...something.
Sam is from Coeur d’Alene and, in addition to helping Rose with her storyline, he actually has an alterior motive...but in the end it is Rose’s choice to make. Will she accept who and what she is or will she turn away from her family’s heritage?
This is a wonderful love story with a bit of magic thrown in...great characters and, what’s not to love about the setting...the Karma Cafe? Sounds delicious! Sam is a wonderful guy - sweet, caring and quite adorable!
Read this! It is short but fun and will leave you with a smile on your face!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.
Rose is making her way to the Café to get some help with the game she is creating and having a few problems with and although they have not met personally Samson and her have a great friendship, this is going to be added to when they meet sparks will fly and light will flash as Samson brings the best out in Rose in so many ways.
Samson has a plan get the game done, open up about the secrets he knows about her family and see if he can bring the magic out in Rose, he wants her so badly and when that happens wow, woohoo.
This is a quick fun and very sensual read one that I loved, Rose had a few things to overcome and Samson was there to help as were the witches. This is a book that I thoroughly would recommend it really is fabulous, it defiantly had me smiling and sighing.
All of the characters were engaging, and I did like them. That is, with the exception of Millicent and Effe, but they served their purpose. I was not sure if Millicent was evil in the magical sense, or just evil because she was not a decent person. Effe's reason for doing what she did became clear later in the book. I felt like Anja, Natalia, and Odette's purpose was to help Rose along in embracing her magic.
I have not read books 1 and 2, but I will have to go back and read them. A pretty quick paced magical romance tale with a HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.
When fantasy writer Sampson Phillips agrees to write the story for video game designer Rose MacBriar, he never sees what is coming. He knows she has magic, and he's willing to help her find it, but his reaction to her startles even him. But there's something magical about this place and his old friends that even he didn't know about. Can he really fall in love that fast?
Rose has to make this the best game ever. Tied to the company by guilt and a sense of owing them something, she has to make every aspect of it the best. But bringing sexy Sampson I to the mix face to face brings more challenges than she saw coming. The attraction is mind blowing. And when she learns the truth about who and what she is she has decisions to make. One being can she be with a man who his something like this from her? Can they overcome and find happiness?
