I did not like how he manipulates her into marriage. I just did not like his reasoning for it. His reasons didn't make sense. He basically tells her that she deserves this and that it's her fault for deceiving him in the first place and now she has to make the situation right by marrying him?? He also says that he should have fired her when he finds out she was actually attractive. But unfortunately, that isn't really right. On what basis could he have fired her?? Oh well she dressed really ugly and matronly but it turns out she's got a banging body?? No that would never be able to happen. She could have sued him for wrongful termination. First off he shouldn't have been able to discriminate based on appearances! Hello there is a law against that! He wouldn't have been able to write her off just based on her appearance. And how arrogant do you have to be to assume that every attractive woman applying is only applying to try to get a chance to become his future wife!
I really didn't like the end either. He runs into an old girlfriend and she ends up kissing him on the night before his wedding and the main character forgives him. Sorry but when you see someone about to kiss you and you're taken, you back the freak up holding your hands in front of you.
The only pro was that I did like the way it was written. That's why I gave it 2 stars. I wouldn't recommend it though, there are better books out there.
It starts an awareness for both of them as being something other than boss and secretary, and the slow dance that they do as Sean becomes more interested in unraveling the mystery and Allie keeps running from her feelings because she doesn't want to become the boss/secretary cliche, is well done and fantastic. The sexual tension just keeps building and building, and the climax is pretty darn hot. I loved the banter between the characters as well as the tension building. Their relationship is slow and believable, and watching them dance around each other playing what is basically hide and seek is pretty darn entertaining.
I couldn't put it down when I read it, and I just finished re-reading it and couldn't put it down either! Fantastic book and I'm really glad that I ignored the other reviewer's opinion because this is one of my favorite romances that I've downloaded. Three cheers for a woman who works hard and doesn't just fall into bed because the alpha male is a great kisser. This is more realistic and more satisfying than a lot of the other romances I've read.
Allie becomes the best assistant Sean has ever had and things are going well, that is until Allie falls in Sean's office one day and he catches her. Really feeling how small Allie is under those awful suits she wears. From that day forward, Sean can't think about anything but Allie and after his touch, she can't get him out of her head either.
Sean attends a wedding one weekend, and finds that Allie is not the frumpy woman she appears. She is a beautiful woman. Allie and Sean begin hanging out together but besides a kiss nothing more happens until at a dinner, they are snapped dancing together.
The photo makes the paper and says it all. Sean devises a quick plan that they must marry in order to save both of their reputations. Will they go through with it and will the plan work? It was interesting finding out!!
Like many other books, it's a little silly and overblown, the way they just "have to" enter ento this marriage arrangement but that's the fun of fiction, right?!?!!! There's a lot of passion but you won't find vividly descriptive or kinky sex. But don't let that deter you. You'll still have fun with it. Oh, & the cover is really generic obviously so use the old rule & don't judge a book by it's cover.
