The Black & Decker BV3800 blower vac has a powerful 12 amp motor that can generate 240 MPH and blows through leaves and debris with ease. This blower has an incorporated tool-free changing system making changing between vacuum and blower only take seconds. I was impressed the first time i used it. It has a metal impeller so it would seem its more durable than cheaper black and decker blower vacs that have plastic impellers. The 16:1 bag ratio is no lie. A pile of leaves that would've taken roughly 2-4 bags filled 1 bag halfway. It has an odd looking leaf blowing tool that moves left to right in a fast motion. The odd design seems to get the leaves efficiently. I bought and only used this handy tool for leaves only so consider this when buying.
Variable wind speeds so if you are cleaning a rocky area you can adjust the output wind speed accordingly, so it doesn't blow rocks.
Cuts leaf pickup time drastically
Has a nice add on that can be bought so instead of filling up a bag it goes straight to a trash bin. See link below.
Need an extension cord to operate (Seems like a good trade off,my last leaf blower's gas line dry rotted)
Bag is small but its better than the alternative of picking up leaves by hand.
Debris in a dust like form comes from the bag and gets on clothes (This is not a design flaw its how the bag keeps from popping)
The tools are all plastic but i don't see them breaking in the foreseeable future. Probably keeps price down so i don't mind they appear durable.
Will update if any problems arise. So far it seems i did not receive a lemon. If you hate picking leaves as i do, go ahead and get this model. It will not dissapoint.
I also like the flat edge of the vacuum rather than the previous edge that was cut sort of diagonally. The new design is much more efficient in getting up stubborn vegetation that ensnarls itself in stuff like ivy.
Quite satisfied with this and got it at a decent price.
The first time I used it was to blow leaves and twigs off of the roof in the fall...worked faster than using a broom. The second time was after a foot of snow had fallen. I tried to use it to blow the snow off of the car but, as the snow was crusted on top, it didn't work well. I could "punch" a hole in the bottom, and the snow would blow somewhere out of the top, much like a "snow volcano". After 20 minutes of working on the hood, I switched to a broom...this time the broom was faster.
When the snow that has fallen is less than 4 inches and is the light, fluffy stuff, it works great. Wet snow...the broom works better and faster, however, this blower works for what I bought it for...blowing leaves off the roof in the fall and flower beds in the spring.
I haven't used the "vac" option so I can't comment on its' performance.
I would suggest an extension cord that uses a minimum of 14 gauge wire...12 is even better, especially if the cord is 100 ft.
