I used this iron for about 1 month and the steam button went down and never came back. Seriously, 1 MONTH! I can't even believe it! The iron won't generate any steam no matter what setting it is on, so I guess that was it! Completely worthless! I shredded my receipt and tossed the box because I had faith in the Black & Decker brand, but something has SERIOUSLY changed in their quality! As I was looking on here, I am shocked to see this was rated as a Consumer Reports best buy. These are not nearly as well made as they used to be. Very, very disappointed!
I replaced this iron with a new Rowenta that is manufactured in Germany and cost me about $100.00 on sale. I guess that is the going rate for a quality iron these days. That will still be cheaper than buying a new iron every few months.
I do iron a lot, almost daily, and I also sew a little, but I really expect better than what I got when I bought this iron. Save your money and buy another brand! This Black & Decker iron is REALLY cheaply manufactured and will not last! DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!
