I owned this "grass trimmer" for a year until I realized that I was endangering my neighbors, their property, pets, children, and bystanders with every use. I was also confused about why my neighbors' gas- and battery-powered weed whips were relatively quiet compared to my nuclear model. Imagine my humiliation as I had to don ear protection when using mine and they did not when using theirs'. Why did this 7 amp corded trimmer make more noise than my 11 amp corded B&D lawn mower?Read more ›
Got it home and so anxious to try it. First use produced damage to our picket fence--blamed it on operator use. Then the grass got scalped really bad. Again, operator issues. Quickly ran out of line. Replaced with the $10 reel. Husband couldn't figure out what was "biting" his legs--thought it was some over aggressive bugs until he noticed his legs were bleeding from the shards of string line regularly whipping off & hitting him. Same issues wearing long pants, but who's going to be doing that in 90 degree humid weather?
Wasn't aware there were issues with how the lines were wound--anyway we hadn't wound the reel that scarred his legs. Today, he tried to use the product again and wasted several hours trying to make this piece of JUNK work properly. Wonder if Consumer's Reports had average Joes try using this product under normal circumstances. Bet they didn't, or they might have requested a recall. Too late for us to return it, and too afraid to sell it at a garage sale for fear someone might lose an eye or suffer permanent damage to their limbs.
Save your money!!! People write these reviews for good reasons. Wish we had looked more closely at what users had to say rather than Consumer's Reports.

Piece of crap! The string doesn't feed properly and either wastes the entire spool, or doesn't feed at all.Published 9 months ago by David

Very good trimmer. I don't know why B&D discontinued it. This was a replacement for one that I inadvertently ruined. Initially purchased it because of the power (7. Read morePublished 23 months ago by Buckshot
Go to the store, buy the $10 replacement spool (or spend 45 minutes re-winding the one that came with it), then immediately unwind it and throw it all in the trash. Read morePublished 23 months ago by Jesus McBabylasers
