Also if she was so human how is she talking an hour after all her insides were outside her body? Two of Declyn's men saw the bad guys that cut her open leave and went after them, so I guess they lost them? Never explained? Was there ever an explanation of who the 'threat" came from? Who were the bad guys, never explained.
When I first started reading I thought I had read it before because it was so similar to the other Kur'ik books. But then that changed. The underlying themes in this book were much more evident and addressed with a fine storytelling line. Declyn is the leader of his people. He takes the responsibility seriously, realizing leadership is not only about giving orders, but also about making sure his people are happy and content.
When unknown people hurt his mate he goes into a rage and it seems if that rage causes his mate's best friend to leave.
This book nicely explores the roles of leadership and the costs of carrying that responsibility. It also explores Declyn and Fire's relationship and how their alpha status helps and hinders their growth as a couple. The author has an excellent touch with romance in an unusual setting. Her grammar is good, though she occasionally forgets to use periods and sentences run to get her. Nothing a decent editor couldn't fix. I have read this whole series and now I'm going to be eagerly waiting for the next.
Safire, or as her friends called her...Fire, was turning 30 and not happy about her place in life. She planned to be married with at least one child by now.
She decided to go out on the town for her birthday after all, but she began to feel like she was being stalked and ran to Deja at the Wolves Den...but once there, it was Declyn who caught her eye!
So much happening in this book it is mind boggling, but since I don't do spoilers, you will need to buy (or borrow on KU) a copy and read it...you DEFINITELY DON'T want to miss this one!
