Trent is an Olympic figure skater. He's thinking of quitting, having once again not gotten a gold medal. Desperate to save his mothers house and his skating rink after his step-father embezzled all his money, he takes on the job of teaching a bunch of rough hockey players to be more agile on the ice.
Two men who couldn't be more different. A burly, gruff, scared man falling for a beautiful, lip gloss wearing, gay skater.
Lots of issues between these guys. Hot sex can only take them so far. And how long can the lip gloss last the way they burn through it?
They have to be willing to take a leap of faith to get to their happy ever after. Enjoyable journey watching them get there. The running theme in this series is family, those connected by blood and by choice. I think once again the secondary characters make this book memorable.
Here we have two athletes, one from hockey and one from Olympics level figure skating. They both have been dedicated to their fields since they were childern.
Trent has lost all his money.... because...can't tell you. But as he provide supports for his mother, grandmother, and an LGBTQA youth center, things suck.
He meets Dieter when agrees to a reality show that will follow him cross training hockey players.
Dieter is a mess. He has a pain killer addiction going on and is in and out of denial. We get a realistic look at the think of an addict and an arc into recovery. In Trent's step father and mother, we get to see the chaos addiction (though of another kind) plays on a family.
This isn't an easy love story but Trent is amazingly well drawn and Dieter really because a wonderful partner during the course of the book.
The secondary characters and families are wonderful and we even get Filipino food through Trent's wonderful quirky grandmother.
Can't wait for Stan's book!
Trent is an Olympic figure skater, silver metal and wanting a gold but now he has to deal with a worthless step-father stealing, possibly losing everything he had and dealing with making a reality TV show. But meeting Dieter was the best part of it all, but dealing with someone else’s addiction is something Trent isn’t sure he’s up for it again.
These two are amazing!! They’ve been dealt some blows but they are there for each other, even the rough patches. Definitely another great read from VL and RJ!
And I can't wait to read the next book about Stan. That big guy has bulldozed his way to my heart.
It took me a while to get around to reading this one, but I notice the next book is coming out next month.. its a quick story and I like the characters from the other 2 books showing up they are all part of the story..
