Sophie was emotionally crushed due to a previous bad BDSM Dom/sub relationship.
Even though years have passed since the previous relationship ended Sophie was still lost, struggling to under why and what really happened to her in the past.
Then she meets Dave a photographer (and his Dr friend Ryan). It's Dave's love and compassion, desire to help and understand not only what happened in her past, but to bring her into the light now.
This was gut wrenching to read and I cried often.
I would only recommend this book to those who have already ventured into the written world of BDSM. Not recommended for novices. Worthy of 5 stars however, I have removed half a star - the amount of sex was blistering. 😃
Annabel is an automatic 1-click for me, she's a talented writer and a leader in this erotic romantic genre. Loved this book.
*Spoiler* Sqwicky plot element explained. Okay, I don't know how many times I've read it in this author's works but I've got to tell you BDSM and pregnancy are a BIG turn off. They don't work. They shouldn't even be in the same room with each other. If that wasn't bad enough the author added BDSM miscarriage to the mix. OMG. NO, just NO.
This is the last of the author's books that I'll be reading.
The plot makes a speedy sprint over the relationship development, keeping the growth of the romance behind the curtain. Because you don't experience this, it feels like it jumps straight to the I-love-you's with a focus on how they plan to maintain their easy connection. The understory of the heroine's past is the root of the conflict.
The book's best thrills rely on AJ's ability to sketch a sexy scene, leaving you satiated, and as always, impressed with the writing.
