This is the fourth installment in the Deep Six Series and it follows a similar trope of the other three. That to me, had both positive and negative connotations. Poor Wolf tries ever so hard to convince Chrissy that love is real and a chance worth taking. They both have friends that, through their infinite wisdom and shared thought provoking commentaries guide them both to their HEA. No spoiler there. The problem for me is that it took up way too much of the story. As with the other books in the series, trouble follows them. In this story, for me, it lacked the angsty moments and thrills of well developed and executed scenarios. Every situation was too easily resolved. No edge of your seat moments. I’ve read all four books in order and I’ve enjoyed them. The main characters are well developed and likable. Wolf’s ability to mishear the correct lyrics to songs is quite humorous. I just wish there would be a little less back and forth of “should I or shouldn’t I” get involved and more focus on the trouble they ensue and even the search for the treasure from the Santa Cristina.

Ms. Walker gave us a good look into Romeo’s and Mia’s character which serves as a prelude into their story up next in the series. All in all, I do recommend this book as well as the series. There are enough redeeming qualities to make it worthwhile.

I will admit to approaching this book with a little trepidation. I feel like my reading mojo has been way off thanks to the mess the world has been lately. Couple that with the last few books in the series have been a bit hit or miss for me and that I REALLY wanted Wolf and Chrissy's story to wow me, and I delayed diving in for a few weeks after it arrived on my Kindle.

Fortunately I found myself loving it and remembering why I loved the BKI series from this author so much! Chrissy is my kind of gal most of the time: a strong, independent, take no crap from anyone business woman who holds her own in a male dominated field. Unfortunately, her outlook on love was most definitely damaged by a mother who couldn't pick a good man if he handcuffed himself to her which resulted in a constant string of father figures coming into Chrissy's life only to forget about her when her mom moved onto the next guy. That certainly does Wolf no favors, and he definitely does more damage all on his own when the green eyed monster takes over his better judgment.

Wolf made me smile over and over again. As a SEAL, he is an alpha without being an alpha-hole. He hilariously misquotes song lyrics when singing, he has a fortune cookie type quote for every occasion, and his Cherokee heritage lends him some insights to the prejudices of the world. He comes from a strong and loving family background so he knows what he wants for his future; now he just has to convince Chrissy to take a chance on him.

Multiple murder attempts on Chrissy's life throw them together for better or worse, and it'll be a little bit of both before everything is sorted out. Their chemistry is off the charts and their banter left me giggling throughout the pages. I was also happy to see more of the treasure hunting side of the series plotline explored in this book too! The glimpse of Romeo and Mia's upcoming story has me excited for it to be released, but in the meantime I have plenty to savor in Deeper than the Ocean.

I have so enjoyed this series by Julie Walker. Not only does she write great storylines, she is just such a smart writer. She comes up with quotes or histories that she has obviously studied and incorporates them into her plots naturally. I think right now, this is my favorite book from the Deep Six series. Retired Seals, brothers in arms, have gone into the treasure hunting business on an island off Key West looking for a sunken treasure. Wolf and Chrissy are the couple looking for their HEA in this book. Wolf is part of the retired Seals, of Native origin, and a great guy to get to know. I absolutely loved this character. He spouts quotes, mishandles song lyrics, and loves deeply. Chrissy has Issues! A product of a single mother who went through men way too frequently leaves Chrissy with not wanting to be in love. She gives it a hard fought battle to keep everything a friends with benefits kind of relationship with Wolf, but I was very glad she came around. Another adventurous, exciting story, this time mostly in Key West. I can’t wait to see what happens with Romeo and Mia next!

Everyone on the island keeps trying to figure out what happened but no one is talking. Chrissy brings out groups of people to tour the island as these ex-SEAL's explore for the sunken ship the Santa Christina. Chrissy has a business meeting with Winston and everything changed. Winston is fighting for his life and Chrissy is in danger. People that have her in their crosshairs didn't count on a bunch of SEAL's coming to the rescue. Wolf would do anything to keep Chrissy safe. When all is said and done, Chrissy can't keep her heart closed off. With a little help from her best friend, she finds the courage to ask for her HEA.

There are some sex scenes and some swearing.
The characterisation, as ever from Julie Ann Walker, is absolutely perfect. The individual personalities of each character in the Deep Six team are the subject of books of their own and suffice to say they surface throughout subsequent books. They are a totally delightful team.
The search for the Santa Christina treasure continues and in the middle of the search love blooms, usually with a twist of thriller and this book is no exception.
The plotline is engaging and ensures you keep turning the pages, but like every other Deep Six book it's the lead characters sparking off each other that grab you. Julie Ann Walker creates strong women who don't compromise and strong men who epitomize big and Alpha but nevertheless walk beside those women as opposed to some male lead characters who lead and never follow.
I would recommend reading the series from the beginning to obtain the best reading experience. I can't wait for the next book in the series and I am heartily glad the author is back and on fantastic form.
There isn't a single book by this author I can find fault with, if you are looking for a romantic thriller then pick up any by the author.

Well my opinion seems to differ quite a lot from the other reviewers. I had the impression the author herself was in love with Wolf. Of course he and Chrissy made an attractive couple but the story was way too much focussed on their romance (lots of hot but repetitive love scenes - almost boring to me) and not enough on their friends and the treasure hunt. So this installment left me disappointed - I hope Romeo's story brings us back to the Santa Cristina!
