When Nikki gets a random phone call from her mother, who brings up Nikki's deceased sister, and absentee father, Nikki is confused. Later in the week, when Nikki meets with a new client, she is shocked to discover that this man who gave her a fake name, is her long lost father. Who may or may not be responsible for the person who stalked her and Damien earlier in the year, and then tried to blackmail the pair in order to gain money.
That story aside, this story was your usual Damien and Nikki, needing each other in ways that only the other can satisfy. There was also talk of the pair becoming parents, because Jackson Steele, and his bride Sylvia were having their baby, making Damien and Nikki uncle and aunt.
As much as I would love to see Damien and Nikki with a child of their own, I have to admit that I am a bit hesitant. See, I want Damien and Nikki to stay the same, and I know a child will change them. I like them the way they are- unapologetic in their love and lust for each other.
Once again, I want more of this pair, so I'm hopeful that Ms. Kenner writes a full length novel about them, because these novellas, while awesome- are just too short!
There is always suspicion and distrust in the lives of Damien and Nikki. Aside from their closest friends and family, there is no trust. Frank Dunlop. Is it too good to be true? I hope not. Nikki deserves someone to call family after her sisters suicide and someone not manipulative like her mother.
In deepest kiss, the chemistry and love be between Damien and Nikki is palpable, ever present, always building. It's delicious. But their mutual respect, their need to protect each other and rely on each other is beautiful.
Deepest Kiss is another Stark winner. And the taste of Dallas Sykes is another delicious morsel to savor until the next Stark novel.
I really love Damien and Nikki, as well as their friends. Dallas Sykes is definitely going to be fun getting to know and a handful if this story was any indication. There's definitely a lot more to him than he lets on and I can't wait to see how his story develops. As usual, this was a well written story with a great plot, fantastic characters, a couple of twists that had me intrigued, and was a great story. The only reason I gave it 3 1/2 stars is due to the fact that I feel as though a huge part was missing regarding Frank and his mysterious appearance. He showed up out of the blue after years of nothing, a new name, sneakng around the island, then after 1 meeting Nikki's ready to forgive and believe everything he says. Even when they found the pictures in his room, she still acts as though all is well. It all just seems too far fetched, no matter how much she wants or needs this to be true. I hope it is for her sake and yes, she truly deserves happiness. However, after everything that her and Damien have been through and still have no idea who the mystery blackmailer was, it seems like she would be a bit more cautious, especially when she's never had any contact with her father in her life. Then there's no more about it and it's just left till the next book? It's kinda worse than a cliffhanger, which I really don't like. I love Ms. Kenner's books, and I have read all of the Stark novels but this is the first one that I haven't fully loved. I really hope all the answers will be coming soon.
I do recommend this book but just warn that it leaves quite a bit unanswered.
