From the Author
No novel is ever created in a vacuum. My top three spots of apportioning the blame for this one go in the following order:
The lovely and talented L.D. Blakeley, my sister from another mister, who said, "What do you mean, you haven't seen Westworld? You write SF romance. Don't be silly--sit down and I'll cue it up."
The perspicacious Sandra Bunino, who told me that SF romance, particularlywith cyborgs, is very hot at the moment. Talk about being smack-dab inmy wheelhouse.
The charming and VERY tolerant Louis Herthum, whose performance in Westworld made me go, "Ooh, wait--there are avenues to be explored here." Also, he got me watching and reading Longmire, so that's all good.
Additional undying gratitude goes to the wonderful Other Half for helping me workout everything from a post-apocalyptic monetary and barter system totechnical details about, well, everything (it's good to be married to apolymath computer engineer), the always hilarious Jackie Leaf foroffering to be a villain and get killed off in a gruesome way, myawesome beta readers Theresa Eastridge, Ceit Kelly, Peter White, J.Kathleen Cheney, and Colleen Storiz, the splendid Cecilia Tan who notonly got me started as a pro writer by buying my very first sciencefiction story but also gave me a marvelous blurb for this book, and myastoundingly perceptive editor Michelle Muenzler who makes sure my words are both pretty and in the right order.
Finally, much appreciation goes to the crew of the Disney Wonder, who made sure I was fed and watered superbly while I edited the book, and to guitarist Tom Sartori who played Dave Matthews Band's "#41" at amoment that could only be called cosmically ordained. Y'all rock.
