The unlikely adventures of Eliza continue with Aunt Lucy being confronted by Ulrich in the coffee shop. According to him Lucy's to blame for his wife Carly leaving him in the lurch with their 2 year old son after she told Carly she'd seen him with another woman.
Ulrich doesn't seem to realise that if he hadn't been cheating he couldn't have been caught. He threatens Lucy "you're a dead woman" in front of a full café and she stands her ground and tells him that if he tries anything she will destroy him. When his body is found in the café the gossip mill is running hot with rumours about Lucy.. no one seems to recall that he threatened her first or that he was a lying, cheating, scumbag.
The police's prime suspect Aunt Lucy blithely ignores the gossip and appears reluctant to do anything to help herself, and Ross refuses to take her off the list creating tension between himself and Eliza. So Eliza, Kaillie and Leanne are determined to crack the case and protect Aunt Lucy before she's put away for a crime she didn't commit.
Meanwhile they have been contacted by Albert Nuvola, from Palm Rings, who has put their case to be allowed free access to the paranormal world, and Eliza is nominated to go to Bruxspells to answer to the council. But Lucy's odd behaviour since the murder could well create bigger problems, especially when Eliza stumbles across the truth.
