I ordered this battery specifcally because it was a Deka manufactured battery. I received a battery that was labeled as a "Big Crank" battery. I'm sure that this battery was manufactured by Deka since it appears identical to a Deka. I would have preferred it had the Deka labeling on it. Other than that the battery seems fine. I have not installed it yet. It has only lost about two tenths of a volt in charge since 1/26/11 to present sitting idle, which is good.

Bait and Switch...

See that Deka label and the "Made in USA" printed at the bottom of it? That's what I paid my $86 to buy, but instead I was sent a Made in Vietnam, $25 "Moto Classic" battery. If I wanted a $25 battery I would have purchased a $25 battery. Don't know how well this Vietnamese battery will work but I got first hand information by a Vietnamese ex-coworker (that fixed motorcycles in his shop in Vietnam) that they were so absolutely desperate for working batteries that he'd disassemble old batteries and build new ones just to have SOMETHING that stored electricity. Is this the quality I can expect inside my Moto Classic battery.

My sales receipt says "Deka" as part of the battery description. I didn't know Deka was the "Kleenex" of battery brands. I thought Deka was a specific manufacturer, as my old Deka battery says on it. The new battery isn't even an EXT14 as ordered, it's a YXT14! The Moto Classic battery doesn't even have all of the required hardware to allow my Buell's cables to sit correctly on the battery terminals. Someone owes me a refund, return shipping cost included...

Oh, if I do a search on Amazon for "YTX14" I find this same Moto Classic battery for $10 less than their "Deka":

One cell died after about a year of sitting on the trickle charger.

Bought this battery to replace my stock motorcycle battery which lasted 8 years, decided not to cheap out and purchase this one. I use my motorcycle once every 2 months and the rest of the time it is sitting on a trickle charger that keeps the battery fresh. One day this battery refused to start the motorcycle. Even though the voltage on the battery was 12.6v it could not provide any amps. After 3 days of sitting disconnected the voltage dropped to about 10.3 which means that one cell is dead.

Will have to replace it and it won't be BIG CRANK this time.

Using this in my 07 BMW F800S. My last battery was installed last July and died before the winter was over -- I think it shorted. That was a Chinese-made battery I was sold by my dealer. I paid less than what the dealer charged me for this Deka.

When I received this battery I immediately noticed a quality difference. It comes with a spacer if needed, was easy to install, and fired right up as soon as I turned the key. So far it's been doing great. Fingers crossed, I'll hopefully have this one about 10 times longer than my last.

I used this battery to replace the OEM battery on my motorcycle. The battery arrived on schedule and was fully charged. I simply installed it in the motorcycle and off I drove. The original battery was week and could no longer turn the starter motor, the Deka battery cranked the engine without any difficulty. Great purchase, highly recommended

Bought this battery for a 2008 suzuki Burgman 650 executive. I live in CT and bought this battery may 2015 and did not remove it to date. Based on the strong performance of this battery I Do not plan to remove battery at all this year. Hadn't run the bike for past couple of weeks as the weather was below freezing. Went to start bike this morning with temps below 30 and started right up like it was a brand new battery. Could not be happier with it. As long as I run the bike every few weeks or so I do not plan on taking the battery in and out as I used to with the original battery. This is a huge time and PITA saver.

I've had two of the Deka batteries in my motorcycles and many other brands over the years. I only had the first one a year before I sold the bike, but I liked the poured terminals so, I bought a another one for my new to me bike a DL1000. In less than two years it won't hold more than 12.42 volts and after sitting two days it drops to 12.25 volts. For the price of these things they should last at least as long as the OEM Yuasa YTX14-BS. I get 4 years from my motorcycle batteries usually, very disappointed in the Deka. Gotten better life from Walmart batteries. If you want a good battery in the ETX14 size, all I can recommend is a Yuasa YTX14H-BS, OEM quality, 240 cca and it cost less than the Deka, yet it does last the usual 3 to 4 years with proper care. I have a 2 year old Yuasa, and it reads 12.65 after sitting for a couple days, my Yuasa before that lasted 5 years in a DR650. The Deka battery life span is just not there, go with a BS type, they are shipped dry. You add the acid in yourself, that way its a fresh start. No telling how long some of these ready to go batteries sit on the shelf.
