Back in 2005 I bought a Dell Dimension from Sam's Club. This keyboard was part of that 'bundle'. The other two items are a) Genuine Dell U0754 Slim USB Wireless Receiver, and b) Genuine Dell Wireless Optical Scroll Wheel Mouse Part Numbers: T0179 U0754 . Both are here for sale in Amazon. I bought two added receivers, one more keyboard, plus another mouse. These three only fit together. They won't operate with a different receiver, and the receiver only works with them.

Got addicted to the bundle. The chief advantages of this keyboard over the others, are:

1. Long-lasting. I still have the keyboard from 2005, and it's fine. Bought another one used, here, a year ago (on which I'm typing).

2. The 'multimedia' allows you to fast forward, reverse, pause, turn up the volume knob on the keyboard -- instead of having to use the mouse precisely on the screen video control. Real big help. This is maybe the biggest reason to buy the thing, especially if you sit at a distance and type. I take the keyboard when I want to lay down, and from across the room can turn the knob up or down when the TV commercial ends or begins, too. There are also lots of little hot buttons atop the keyboard for webbing back and forward, stop, refresh, home; email, My Computer, and especially CALCULATOR. I use that Calculator button many times a day. Far easier than clicking an icon on the desktop.

It works for XP and Windows 7. I didn't install Windows 8, so I don't know if it will work there.

3. You can set up the receiver and keyboard and mouse (they are a unit, remember) while the computer is BOOTING. This can be important, when Windows won't start. You don't need special software. I can do this setup with ANY computer, not merely a Dell.
