Awesome Miachine after SSD Hard Drive Swap to Fix Slowness Problem

This laptop seemed like it had everything I wanted at a good price to replace my other failing laptop. But, I rarely used for almost six months because it was remarkably slow to boot up and to open files. A friend suggested replacing the existing drive with an SSD hard drive. That was exactly what it needed. The cost for the machine I needed and ended up with increased by around 50%. But, so far, unless the keyboard issue others have mentioned shows up once I'm using it more, it is a most awesome tool. Here is what we added to fix: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E1T0B/AM) for around $240 and a Sabrent USB 3.0 to SSD / 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Adapter [Optimized For SSD, Support UASP SATA III] (EC-SSHD) for around $10. My friend installed the drive and adapter with no hitches at all. If you want to make these changes, something like this toolkit is pretty handy if you don't have the specific tools already (and it has so many other uses too) Soucolor Computer Cellphone Repair Tools Kits，PC Precision Screwdriver Set,SOUCOLOR 78 in 1 Magnetic Driver Kit with Portable Case for iPad, iPhone 8/8 Plus, Tablets, Laptops, PC, Smartphones, Watches, Game Co.

Computer is good, but not great. The Pros - Great screen, good speed on basic functions such as word processing, etc. Nice keyboard layout and backlighting. Cons - Difficult and lengthy process to access laptop internals for upgrading DRAM and HD. Slow HD and graphics card for gaming or other graphics intensive functions. Overall, a very adequate laptop for business, school, office type functions. I'd give it a 3 1/2 stars.

I never write reviews but I really want to warn people in regards to the fragile keyboard. To begin, I am just an average computer user with light typing (class essays) needs; all of the sudden one of the internal key latches broke the week when my "return period" ended; which cause the "9" key to pop off without being able to put it back. It had been a little over a month after purchase and the laptop was brand new. The keyboard itself isn't replaceable, Dell tech support is awful (with many hoops to go through) and when I got a hold of a human they could not assist me with my issue due to Dell's system updates. Just know, I will NEVER be buying a Dell product again!

the wireless card in this machine just plain sucks. complete failure after a few months. also, this is an extremely weak machine. trying to multi-task is brutal and playing video is god-awful. struggles to load some web pages that have video (facebook, youtube.) takes for-ev-er to boot up too.

i will never buy another dell again.
